It’s problem is obvious, it is time to trade it in. For me I am not kidding. I need a truck that runs. I was going over the Cisques (sp) with my sled and my 99 F150 started sputtering, I traded it in the next weekend.

Here is one thread to look at. http://www.dieseldoctor.com/messageboard/data/308.html

Try doing a google search for "2000 f-250 diesel stalling" most likely one of a few different sensors.

Fuel pumps do go out on those on occasion.

Injectors are another issue sometimes, but they usually just make it run rough and smoke.

Cool Re: diesel mechanic needed

Besides the electronics all you need to make a diesel motor run is fuel , air and compression ... Take any of the three out of the picture and its a no go ...

Check the IPR (injection pressure regulator) retaining nut, when they come loose then can cause stalling which usually occurs during acceleration or deceleration.

Did you check for codes?

Did you check the engine oil level?

Did you check the fuel supply pressure (like Matt suggested)?

its been to a mechanic he diagnosed it i have the codes. he replaced thcamshaft positioning sensor and the speed sensor. everything checked out and then when i was on the way home it missed once. i also replaced the fuel ffilter and the air filter. oil level is good but the next step i will take is to have it changed and serviced. when it died before it was very violent. also ran some b-20 through it to clean the system out. any other sugestions would be greatly appriciated

You might want to have him check your EGR valve.

Bad injectors, or even one could be the symptom also. Did you take it to a Ford dealer? Can you post the codes?

Oh, I'd be curious if he checked for codes AFTER changing out all those items, and what the result was.

Give me a call at work (Oregon Fuel Injection 800-452-5055) and we could cover more diagnostics. How many miles are on it? What were the codes? 80% of the problems we solve on the Powerstrokes never set codes.
