Default Coos Bay/Coquille River Salmon techniques

Does anyone have a line on what they are catching them on down in the Coos Bay and/or Coquille river system? I'm going to visit a fishing buddy down there next week and would appreciate any inside info.

Thanks in Advance!

TPM,
I will be on the Coquille from sun through tue of next week. Maybe I will see you, Look for an old Alumaweld sled with an 80 Merc.
Ive never fished the Coos, So Im no help there. I consider the Coquille my home river, So I may be of some help. In the lower tidewater (Coquille down to Bandon) Its a trolling show. My latest report from there was very good. From Coquille on up, Its a bait show. Eggs under a float will get you into fish. This next week is going to be good. The tides are perfect!

Thanks for the inside Willierower, I have fished the Coquille a number of times last but we always end up getting skunked. I'm not sure what we're doing wrong (if anything). I was also quite the apprentice so I was just following another person's lead. Turns out they don't catch much fish. I'm going to troll with long leaders and either Blue Fox or Slow rolling herring. My buddy says to bring your own herring before coming down as there are none down there.

Thanks again,

The Coquille is my home river.. I fish it every weekend! There is a little herring around but it is not the best stuff.
We have been using cut sardines (about a blue/purple size) they are softer which requires you to go through much more bait.. but that is a good thing. good shine, good scale patterns I wont go back! Dont tell anyone
The fishing has been very good.. I got (2) Sat. afternoon on the out going tide fish three hours... w/ my kids and three Sun. morning w/ the incoming tide.. fished from daylight until 11 or so... didn't see many fish caught, but we have had some great days! I am at 23 for 7 trips in Sept.. and a dozen or so in Aug. Not a lot of big fish lots of 3 year old fish and some 4 year old fish.
Say hi, I will be in the big green Willie Predator...
Good luck
Shoot me an email if you need some more information

I am from Coos Bay and was thinking about going down this weekend. If I was to fish the Coquille where would be the best place to put in? I know the upper river is narrow so would rather fish the lower end. Also does anyone know what is being caught in the Coos? Size and quanity?
Thanx
Bob

I talked w/ a few people yesterday that said they caught some fish on the Coos.. it has sort of turned off lately.. two weeks ago it was hot.
I would put in at Rocky Point on the Coquille or at Bullards and go up frm there.. you will see the large flotilla of boat.. watch were people are catching fish and fish those areas.. most importantly is to keep your bait clean and fresh!
