Default I got one!

I geuss to some of you I had a pretty slow day today, one fish. But to me...WOO HOO!! I GOT A FISH!! Got him (her) on the EF Lewis on a pink corky w/red yarn. I'm a real bad weight estimator, but he (she) was 25" long. That fish came at a price though! I swear with that wind it felt about -10 out there! Ice formed on my waders at the water level. Also those drops of water that are on your line when you reel up froze to the guides on my rods. Every other cast I had to break the ice out of them or I couldn't cast! It was next to impossible to tie rigs cause my fingers wouldn't work any more. It was ******* COLD! but well worth it. I only saw one other fisherman out there this morning (monday).

Nice job, you totaly earned that one

Getting one fish out there in that wind and from that cold water is worth ten on a nice day.

According to my chart, the wind chill factor was -14 this morning. You earned that one.

Thanks for all the props everyone. It was kinda strange, when that fish hit it just stopped. I thought, s#*t another snag! I gave it a yank and it still felt stuck pretty solid. Damn! I start reeling up the slack so I can break it off, but wait a second.....it's moving! And the battle was on!

Great job on your first! Cold weather and all you went through will make for good details when you tell your story about your first steelhead in the future.

Keep after em.

Congrats! I'm still waiting for my first winter fish. I'll be waiting a bit longer too. It's way to cold for me out there right now.

Congrats on the fish, I did not see anyone on the river yesterday. It is real fun to try to un freeze you reel and guides.  I had a swing and a miss on a first cast jig. :depressed: I found the spinning reel worthless, you try and cast and all of the line would freeze together and come off all at once What were you driving....Ross

Ok, I want the full scoop...the rod, the reel, the line size, the hook size, etc.

And how much ice did you have to get to keep the fish fresh?
