Default my new El chepo predator caller

Well I have been wanting to put together my own coyote caller for some time wanting to get a radio shack small amp and horn speaker with the wires to plug into my MP3 player. Then about a month before Christmas I ran across the Cass Creek big horn XL speaker. Basically the same thing I was going to make myself (amp/wire/speaker) already made for me at a price I could barely beat doing it myself.well my Wonderful father inlaw (DAB) yeah yeah he is pretty good haha God me one for Christmas I finaly got around to loading some sounds on the mp3 player and camo'ed the waterproof box for my mp3 plater (pelican case for ipod) and it looks and sounds greatand wow is it loud. Here are a few pics now to get out over east and call in some dogs and cats rp

I have been collecting sound files from all over also if you Google Varmint Al he has a large selection of sound files for free also you can purchase Johnny Stewart CD's in store or internet and they have both mp3 and reg cd music files on there disc rp

Nice Ryan, now get out there and bust one!
As soon as we get the waterfowl season behind us, I'll be pulling out mine too.
Hunt'nFish

For sounds you can do a few Google searches and get lots of hits, but Varmint Al's & Western Rivers sites will get you plenty of sounds.
Personally I like to run a 20-30min sequence and then have the next file be another seq or a pause w/ a seq. Second seq preferably a kill seq with some pup sounds thrown in like they are in the process of catching the rabbit.

my player is about 120 bucks or so you can go cheaper but you want one with the on screen display so you can see what sounds you are selecting (sandisk Sansa/ipod) and the speaker set up is normally about 50 bucks. Not super cheep but still cheaper then a foxpro and with 8gigs of memory on my player I can hold a lot more sounds then any caller I can afford rp

Thanks I hope to get out this weekend. As for sounds I have a program called goldwave you can use any recording program out there and I sample and master the sound bites into 20 to 30 minute sequence like my jackrabbit sequence is 25 min long. Cottontail a bit longer and for my cougar calls they are all over the place rp

Nice job RP - I noticed that there is another company making something similar to the Bighorn now too. I'll bet they got the idea from all the home builders that pioneered the use of personal mp3 players

Good luck huntin' -

I built one using Varmint Al's instructions for around thirty-fourty bucks. I have called in two coyotes with the set-up, but I did not manage to call in any aiming skills, so no photos. My first unit used a cheap CD player so I had to pack around paper playlists, but I have an MP3 player now . . .

For the parts, think Radio Shack. For camo components, think spray paint. Here is one side of the speaker bell:

and the other:

Not very good pictures, but you get the idea.

Im no calling expert, but I downloaded all of the files from the Varmint Al website and they sound pretty good to me. I uploaded them to my iphone and ipod, now I just need to pick up the speaker. Thanks for the tips.

Also if you guys need waterproof ipod cases, the otterbox website has a clearance section called the "bargain bin" they have waterproof cases for the mini, standard 20gig, and 40 gig ipod photo for $7 each. They have a waterproof headphone jack and you can use the wheel while its in the box, I paid almost $40 when I bought mine last year.

For $60 this looks like a pretty neat little system too.
