Glock 26 or Springfield XD9?
So I’ve been looking to get a concealed handgun for some time now. I’ve done a lot of research and have narrowed it down to either the Glock 26 or the XD9. What do you guys think? Which do you have and why? Any help you can give me is appreciated. Thanks.

I say try to shoot both. Either of those is a solid reliable weapon. Go with the one that fits best. For me it's glock, but lots of people like the XD.

Re: Glock 26 or Springfield XD9?
I agree, whatever handles and shoots best for you. They both have great finishes (Tennifer and Melonite). The downside to the XD is the fact that no parts are available other than recoil springs. If an XD goes down you have to send it to Springfield. Glock parts and Glock armorers on the other hand are everywhere.
The XD has a higher bore axis. This bothers some people, but not others.

I agree that you should try them out.
I would go with the Glock. It can accept all G17, G18 and G19 mags which will give you more round capacity. I personally did not like the G26, the grip was two small. I went with a G19.

Re: Glock 26 or Springfield XD9?
I went with the XD9. It fits my hand better than the Glock and I'm more accurate because of it.
Before I bought my XD,I shot a couple hundred rounds through the XD and G19 before I made my decision.

Re: Glock 26 or Springfield XD9?
I would no question go with the glock. I had one xd and lots of different glocks the xd i had to send back to springfield 3 time with less than 500 rounds through it. I have a few different springfield 45s in the 1911 that i love but for a carry wepon the glock is the most reliable in my opinion.

I went to buy a Glock 26. The guy talked me in to a Glock 27. I would consider the 27. It is a nice gun that shoots amazingly well.

Re: Glock 26 or Springfield XD9?
In order to judge the Glock Sub Compacts you need to feel one with that mag/finger extension. Makes alot of diff. and you will want to put one on the G26 or G27.

Check out the Smith and Wesson M&P, currently $50 rebate from S&W and it's got a slimmer profile than both. But if you still choose XD or Glock I'd go with XD, I like the loaded chamber indication and the ergonomics on it better.

My vote is for the XD, probably because I just picked one up last weekend, but in .40 cal.

Re: Glock 26 or Springfield XD9?
Having owned both, I sold my 27 (and 22) because it was too thick; even with the pinky rest mag-cap, it never felt right in the palm and pointed high. A grip reduction can be had for $170, but, why add expense when there is a superior option? The XD9 compact is a different ballgame. The gun feels like it was meant for my hand, fills the palm well, pinky rest mag-cap from Pearce fits nicely, works with standard mags with a gap sleeve, points like a 1911, and comes in stainless steel. What's not to like? And they're more accurate for me too. My Glocks could never group under 4" but the XD's that replaced them group 1.5-2.5"...it's like shotgun fitting, you can't hit if you aren't comfortable.

I would try both. I have both the Glock and the Springfield and shoot them both well. Try both and see what you like!

Re: Glock 26 or Springfield XD9?
Glock 26 is my choice. Ask any cop about Glock reliability...their life depends on it, and yours might too.
I have a big hand and was surprised how well it fits me. The fatter grip seemed to make the difference, for me at least.

Re: Glock 26 or Springfield XD9?
If it's for a carry gun go with the Glock it's just plain and simply a tool.
