Default steering wheel to tiller

How hard is it to switch from a steering wheel to a tilller. I have a evinrude 50hp on a 17ft lowe that I would like to switch to a tiller

It's very easy to do, you just need to find a tiller handle, they're a little pricy new. You can find used ones around and a handle will fit many different sizes of motors, so it doesn't need to for your exact size and model. The throttle cable may be the only only thing you need to change on the handle, they are a little more specific.

I recently went from strg console to tiller on an 85 horse merc. Gerry at Island Marine Salvage helped me out a bunch. I love the extra room and since mine is pump, it makes getting on the trailer a breeze in comparison to the strg wheel! I was in the deal about $250

No, you just mount the key near the motor in a convenient place.
