Default Waterfowling between Hood River and Biggs?

Quick question for anyone with knowledge. I'm not asking for anyones specials spot or anything. I will be visiting family in Hood River on the last weekend of the season. Would like to get into some ducks and see what transpires.

Does anyone have any info or general locations to hunt along I-84? Are the sloughs between Moiser and The Dalles legal to hunt out of? How about hunting the Columbia near Biggs, any good?

Thanks for any info!

Allan

Not that I know of. That section of the river is closed within 1/4 mile of the river.

Columbia is closed from the RxR bridge at Celilo east to the town of Arlington.

If you do hunt up east, watch yourself, as the spray will freeze to your boat and weigh it down... sometimes considerably....

So does that leave any inland options, or am I gonna be stuck howling and screeching calling yotes on the closer of the '07-'08 waterfowl season?

I think it's open from Arlington to Umatilla. Healthy drive...

As in, hike in with my dekes and dog and set up, or attempt to jumpshoot birds? Is it accesible for a decoy cart (small game cart, not a big box cart).

Any info you guys pass along is great!

Thanks,
Allan

Well there is only one good place to hunt in that stretch of the main river. And I will be set up there that weekend. A couple of ponds or sloughs between hood river and cascade locks might have some birds hanging around. I hiked the west shore of the Deschutes a week ago and saw a few geese but no ducks. A fire this summer took out most the cover for upland birds for the first 2 or 3 miles.

If your on foot there really is only one maybe two decent duck spots. With a boat you could find a few others.
