Default Springers a bust, but chrome still found!

I had been planning the last couple of weeks to get out and find my first Springer of the year this week and Today was going to be the day. But with the NASTY East wind I decided to hit my favorite coastal river and see if there were still a few Steelies hangin' around...

I invited my friends Linda and Brian along, and we decided to try some different water. I'm Glad we did!

With the boat ramp still in sight my rod folded over and line started peeln' off the reel, as this little guy comes shooting out of the water multiple times:

Just around the corner Brian found this Steelie hiding in a deep pool:

As you can see, Brian is having a hard time holding onto this HEFTY Steelie, but with proper lifting techniques Brian was able to slip it into the fish box.

We tried to find another fish to keep Linda occupied, but it wasn't in the cards

It was still a great day, and I think I got a little sunburned

Good job Andy. Nice fish and a nice day except for the dang wind.

Nice fish.

It's great trying new stuff, especially when you hook up.

Thanks for the report.

Nice fish. I think I recognize that house on the bank. Keep up the good work!

Way to go Andy. That East wind is going to lay down this weekend. Call me.
