Best Football Player Out Of The State In The NFL
So since I didn't want to jack the other thread...Who is the best NFL football player to come out of the state of Oregon (either OSU or uo) in the last 10 years?
I am tossed up between Nick Beats and Steven Jackson.
Eighty Five and Hush are great, Haloti Nagata is money. Anderson and Clemons are looking tough. But who is the best?

The best NFL player out of Oregon may not have gone to either OSU or the U of O. How about Troy Polamalu who is a Douglas High School graduate(Winston, Oregon)?

Troy is one bad dude.
Best college player out of the Oregon college system would have to be Chad Johnson.
Best character would have to go to the Linehans if they go pro.

Troy Polamalu is bad alright..... he has missed more tackles than he made this year or last. I think he was embarrased to make the pro bowl on his performance this year.

Re: Best Football Player Out Of The State In The NFL
I'd say its a toss up between Steven Jackson and Haloti Ngata...Ngata is an absolute beast but his position isnt really a highlight maker. Jackson is ridiculous good.

Re: Best Football Player Out Of The State In The NFL
Ryan Longwell is from here in Bend.I'm not a big fan of kickers but u have to admit he has had a pretty good career in the NFL.Scored more points than anyone from Oregon
Best player has to be Stephen Jackson though. The man is a stud.

I wasn't even aware there were any players from OSU or OU in the NFL. I guess I need to watch more OSU or OU or NFL games.

Aggree with Chad Johnson or Troy P.
Joey was the #3 pick and has outplayed David Carr, the #1 pick that year. He makes a nice back up, occasional starter, and is a good citizen which should mean more anyways, right?

As a Beaver I have to say that DA was a horrible quarterback in college. IMO he took a hit his second season and was always a little gun shy after that. I dont think he fully "matured" and grew into his body until after he left OSU. He is getting better, but I dont think he is "there" yet. He has a long way to go, but will certainly be one of the better players out of the state if he goes without injury.
Other than that,he was a classy guy, same with his dad. I had a chance to hang with both of them a while back.

Re: Best Football Player Out Of The State In The NFL
DA wasn't horrible in college. Just had an awesome arm and the rest of his QB skills didn't match up. In the NFL he is at best good. Yesterday is a fisne example, he throws interceptions in good number. He is learning to devop some other skills but still slow in coming. One skill I would love to see him master is scrambling to avoid hits.Though better than in college he still its still a "hike, release rocket" routine. An announcer the other day mentioned the need for him to be less telling, or more deceptive with his eyes. Defense can read the QB face and get an idea of what is going to transpire.

He might have developed into a lot better college QB if someone hadn't blown his red shirt season!

Re: Best Football Player Out Of The State In The NFL
You have to go back farther then 10 years to find the really good ones. Most of the current crop have one or two good seasons, not a career. Anderson's a perfect example of this - his "greatness" can't even be measured in seasons, just in games so far.
Oregon has the fifth highest number of players in the NFL Hall of Fame of any college. I'm not sure Oregon State has any at all.

Also why limit it to Oregon and Oregon State? How about Neil Lomax?
