Default Deal on Tuna/Hali sticks NOW at FMS

Just a heads-up....

Fishermans Marine has their XStream house brand rods on sale for $55, regularly $99. (I think they're w.Griggs rods)

We used a 7' 30-80# the last days of the halibut season and it was a sweet stick,,,,really much better than my comparable Ugly/Tiger stik rods.

Should work well for trolling higher resistance tuna gear like daisy chains or divers.

I've been waiting since for them to go on sale...now 45% off! After my visit, Delta Park FMS had just a couple of the 7' but lots of 6 ' and 6 1/2'.

Only bad thing I'll say about the rod is it does NOT have a gimbel butt (you might be able to slot it though)

I love these rods so far.
Got a 6' and 7' last year and used them for both tuna and hali.
The 6' brought in my personal best hali @ 78lbs. with no problems at all.
Of course, the Avet EX 4/0 didn't hurt. Gimbal would have been a nice feature, but at this price, I can live without.

Be a little careful on these rods. I stopped using them and went to a couple of different brands. Mostly custom now so I can pick my own guides for the application that the rod will be used for.

The rod is good but the guides are not as good. I broke 4 of these in 3 years. I got them replaced for free by FMS, because they never lasted a year. I was using braided line at the time.

Just my 2 cents worth of experience.

Yes, the guides appear inferior. Were the inserts popping out of the guides or was the metal breaking?

Inserts were popping out on 3 out of the 4 rods. One, the tip weld just came undone. At that point it was time to look at different quality. I still have a new rod that has not been used in the last year. Makes a nice ornament at the beach garage.
