Default Online Degrees

I found an old link in the archives from 2005 but was wondering about current experiences with getting a BA/BS online. I am looking at attending the program from Marylhurst but trying to justify the cost. I am researching mostly traditional colleges that also offer an online degree. I have enough credits to enter as a junior. Anyone currently attending and what are your experiences.
thanks steve

My mom got her masters through the U. of Phoenix. She said it was a pretty challenging program. She got her masters so she could qualify for a promotion within her company.

I got my BS from OSU, but through traditional classroom.

In my subjective opinion, if this is your first undergraduate degree you are going for, I wouldn’t opt for going to on-line classes. Or if you do, get your degree through a local university like PSU, OSU, or WSU. Your diploma won’t say anything about “online,” it would be just like any other degree (you might still have to attend some classes though).

I think the full blown online universities are more for working professionals who are looking to advance within their company. Someday the online universities will be well regarded for undergraduates, but I just don’t think we are quite there yet.

Don't know anyone who did their undergrad that way. Know lots of folks who went on-line for their masters however.

I have a friend's who's wife is doing her bach online @ WSU. She really likes it. She can stay at home with the kids while doing her classes.

I think Eastern Oregon University has a program too. My niece was taking online classes working toward her bachelors. My daughter got her bachelors this summer through U of O but is taking some other supplemental classes online through CCC and it seems to work ok. Probably depends on the degree you are seeking.

I am finishing up an online masters degree right now. 3 years worth of classes at one class per term. It was definately more convenient since i could work on it from home on my own time, but you do miss out on some of the interaction that you would get from a normal classroom environment. Lots of message board posting and emailing back and forth with other people in your class and the professors. Although i do get a masters degree from Penn State and i will have only stepped foot on campus once, the second time will be to grab my diploma next spring!!!
