Default Duck Hunting advice (before Friday)

I need alittle advice, I went to one of my favorite spots this evening to do alittle scouting for saturday an hopefully do some jump shooting. Well the spot I wanted to set-up on Saturday is frozen so I checked a couple of other spots, which happened to have 75-100 ducks in each spot, BOY was I excited, on one spot I saw a couple of mallards so I snuck up there and when they jumped I shot an missed the drake and my next shot hit the hen, But next thing I know aleast 75 other birds came out of the little pot hole. This same scenario happened 3 times in three diffrent potholes, so I saw a total of 100-300 birds today, now here is the part where I will need the advice. Since I'm getting off early from work tommorrow (2:00) should I go back out there and maybe set up deeks for and evening hunt, or should I jump shoot agian and be alittle more prepared (I was running late today so I couldn't take my time:frown. An last but not least should I stay away and hit it Saturday and hope I can beat everyone out there and hope the birds will be there two days from now????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????
Someone please help, If I could I would take Friday off but I can't..

Thanks for the advice

Well, you did educate a lot ducks that the spot wasn't that safe, maybe an error. I'd chase them out with just your presence and set up a spread and then take 'em in more manageable numbers as they come back. I think you would preserve at least two good shoots in a row.

Plus shooting ducks over deeks is more fun and you get more birds! Good luck

I totally agree with that, If I would have known they were all in there I would have backed out. Oh also forgot to tell you there is not much open water down here, and these potholes 90% of the time don't freeze. So should I try an evening hunt tommorrow with deeks, an Saturday get in there early. Come on what do you think.....
Shoot now I'm sitting here getting all worked up, I just reread the remarks a couple times (I'm slow I guess) an I totally get it, maybe I will just walk-in an scare them out tommorrow after work, set-up and wait for them to return and then get in there bright and early saturday and set-up also and wait........................................

I would think they would be more likely to come back AGAIN if you walk in early am and QUICKLY set up. If you bust them off the roost in late the evening, they may just find another roost, and be less liely to come back there again. If you think they are coming in there to roost after an afternoon feed, then you could set up a few hr's before legal quitting time, but I would think you are less liely to get two hunts out of it if you do that, i.e., they won't likely come back in the next am.You never know..... Nice dilema to be in...

The answer is to take 100-300 jump shooters with you in order to not let educated birds escape. Packing decoys is much to hard of work for the wiley jump shooters....a lost art IMO!
