Default Seachoice Outriggers?

I've noticed that there are a couple different gimbal mount outrigger manufacturers that sell setups for under $200. Yeah they're likely not anywhere near Taco quality, but I'm wondering if anyone else has any of these or know anything about them? I've been considering outriggers, but I don't have a hard top and the next best option is gimbal mount. Any input, suggestions or advice? (beside the whole VW Vs. BMW argument, please )

Thanks

CrF

I use Seachoice for my clamp on rod holders. They hold up very well. I'm also pleased with the price. $25/$35ea. vs. $100ea. for Taco.

I have ran Seachoice outriggers for 2 years, I extend them first of Tuna season, camo duck tape joints and leave them extended all season, have caught close to a hundred Tuna on them, no breakage I do replace the line each year so far, they will bend till you think they are going to break esp if you get one hooked up and It don't release but still keep on working. For the price what a deal. I paid about 125 on e-bay when I bought mine. No regreats..............Ray

I dont have any personal experience, but i did see a product survey on "Basspro". There was not a lot of good to be said, but like you said, "for the price..." I would be interested to hear some more opinions though!

I run them last summer 125$ on Ebay, replaced the clips after a couple trips because they were garbage and foamed the ends that insert into the gimbals you have to tape them up in the sections or they have a tendency to telescope back in once in awhile when I 1st got them I was disappointed but after a summer of use and worked the quirks out I would buy them again!!!PEACE

ran them this last year after the first trip replaced the release that was my only complaint.... they have only colapsed once. this was my first year with outriggers and found them easy to use and the right price... no regrets on getting them

The ones I have are 15 foot in three sections and yes they telescope, but like I said I taped them just to be sure they stayed out there, but I think they would have anyway. These are basically price sensitive, and I also replace my clips with a better style............Ray

I bought a pair off ebay 5 years ago, and they were cheap and flimsy..... I threw them away after a couple of uses.... the poles were telescopic, the releases were crap with plastic rollers, the cord was like 400 lb mono.... yuk! Yuk! save your money and buy a good set for a little more and be happy with them.... or buy used off of ebay???
