Default Vernonia Report

Is the food bank still the best place to send funds? If there is another outfit more needy at this stage, please share that information, and i prefer to keep it under local control as opposed to national agencies/organizations. Will do a little fundraising at the company xmas party....

No one should say "we need it more". All the needs during a disaster are great. But generally the smaller communities have fewer resources to draw from.

Any of the food banks, will serve a greater population than the city where they are located, and 100% of what you donate serves that area.

The Red Cross because they are a National Organization, they can pull people from around the nation (and they did in Vernonia) to feed the workers and the victims They are very proficient at processing the mountain of paperwork, necessary for the victims to receive federal and local aid. Whether it's an apartment fire down your street or a hurricane in New Orleans, they gear up accordingly. And they are good at it.

All of the people and organizations who work to help victims, do so because there is a need. Supporting them financially or by volunteering or both, is rewarding.

There will always be a need for help. And thankfully there will always be folks like you to fill that need.
