As far as I know, it's the same as the Lowrance LMF 400, and you can pick that guy up with a fuel flow sensor for under $200, and hook it up to your Lowrance GPS for the speed reading.

Basically it reads the fuel flow, and boat speed, to calculate MPG, GPH, fuel used, fuel remaining, remaining range at a given speed, etc. Very handy when travelling far from port, especially for peace of mind.

With gas running $3+ a gallon, a flow manager could literally "Pay for itself" by letting you know at what RPM's, with a given load, what your optimal MPG or GPH is. If you don't already own one, in all likelyhood, you don't have a clue, other then what the saleman told you!

And it's not always what you might think. One buddy of mine's boat gets it's best economy at 35mph, while another is just on plane at 22mph. The difference is significant between those speeds on both boats.

I put one on my Suzi-225 and hooked it to my LCX-26cHD. As others have said... it gives great info and helps find that sweet spot. With the price of gas, I'd say that info is money well spent.
