Default Columbia at Deschutes

Fished this morning for about 4 hours with a friend, caught and hooked nothing. Saw only 4 fish hooked, all by trollers, it was very slow to say the least with a lot of boats out there. I have seen two fish "hooked" by jiggers there in the last week, so I would not recommend anyone waste their time out there jigging right now. Monday was a lot different out there as there were more fish caught (quite a few early) and more fish were rolling and jumping as well. I noticed (it was hard not to) that there were a lot of indian nets out today that were not there on Monday. How long do they get to "fish" for out there? I will not plan on fishing out there again while so many nets are out there.

We trolled out there Sat and managed to get one Chinook and two released native Steelhead about mid day all within an hour, we considered ourselves extremely lucky. We actually saw a snagger I mean jigger get one in the mouth. The jigging success picked way up in the PM to the point where I mentioned trying it with some spoons, but my brother called me a Taliban lover for thinking those thoughts. Wait I'm not through. Then, two snaggers, I mean jigger boats decide its easier just to anchor below the marker. Since there was some wave action, one of the guys puts his line in the water, puts it in a rodholder takes a nap as the water action does the work for him. So now the drifters and trollers have to go around these guys. Later that boat snagged, I mean hooked a fish that took them close to a half a mile downstream where is could be netted in private.
I know its a free world. But come on!
