Default Steelheader plantoon boat

I recently purchased a Steelheader 10' plantoon cataraft. I know there is some IFish members who have this or something similiar plantoon boat. My question is how do most of you get to and from the river other than back of your truck. My goal is to not break it down at the end of every trip. I have a mini van which this is to big for and also I think this raft is to big and heavy to throw on top easily (rack on top). I am thinking of a flat bed utility trailer or possibly a small boat / drift boat trailer. But money doesn't grow on trees. Raft, trailer, and now stroage cost. Any suggestions?

Just donate that Catacraft to me and you won't have to wory about it

Seriously though, you can get a little utility trailer at Fred Meyers fairly cheap and it even folds up and takes up very little space in your garage. You might have to add a couple of sheets of plywood but for a long term solution it'd be hard to beat. Might even be able to put a scooter or motorcycle on the trailer with the small boat an voila, who needs a shuttle,

Good luck. If ya can't get the new trailer maybe you could look around for someones old dump run trailer. I did and I bought one for $100. I keep the hubs maintained and it has never let me down. Don't forget to get a spare tire and a jack .

Used to have a 9' Steelheader and am going to be buying a 12' set of Steelheader tubes and building my own frame after 1st of the year. I do have a 16' Aire cataraft still that I use.

Here's a couple suggestions. First off, if you have a roofrack carrier on that minivan, you can put that boat on top. I have a full size blazer and I put my 16' on top fully inflated before I switched my traveling scenerios. I always put my 9' on top also.

Now here's my new scenerio. I bought a used driftboat trailer fairly cheap. Since my 16' is bigger/wider then your steelheader I needed to add some width to trailer so it wouldn't drag on the ground. I bought some channel strut and bolted them down. Now problem is all solved. Since you have a smaller boat you can get by easily with the smaller trailer from Fred Meyer, probably w/o using the channel strut.

Good luck.
