WOW GI Joes derby will be awsome!

First off I'm so bummed out :depressed: I am going to miss my first derby in 9 yrs and this looks like the big one! Talked with Stan Brock on the phone yesterday and there is some big names coming to fish this derby from the NFL.... Dave Wilcox 49ers, Chris Miller Atlanta Falcons, Charlie Sitton another local boy also some baseball players.Randy Meyers (The Nasty boys)This will be great for people to meet theses guys.

I know they give $1000's of dollers of gear away and just the fact that your entry fee gets you a chance at a North River drift boat makes this a great oppertunity for fisherman.

Just wondering whos done all the derby's in the past? What you think of this Derby. My team in the past has Won some very cool items in the raffle and I'm sure all will agree it's a great time there.

Everyone have a blast and rip some lips

Team YEEHA will be at a basketball tournament. but my NR will be there in spirit

Team #59 - 1st wave. We will be one of the top ten fast boats at he blast-off. Big black/yellow sled 300MERC/prop. The blast off is the best part of the whole event!

Should be another fun derby. Hopefully our boat catches some fish this year. We fished the wall last year and the wind was brutal.

where do I find out more information about the derby? or if some one could answer my questions I would be much abliged. when and where is it being held and what are the rules of the derby i.e. do you have to have a team. thanks

I belive you can get info at any GI joes. Yes you need to have or be on a team and their is plenty of guides that will be fishing also.

This is a first class event! Very organized, and very well put together. From the captians meeting the night before, all the way untill the last raffle drawing of the evening, first class all the way!

In my opinion, if you had to pick a Sturgeon Derby...This is the one...

Stan Brock is now the MC of this event and his good friend Eric Lindy (Blue Jewell Fishing Adventures)(Former MC) are top notch hosts and great people to be associated with...

I especially like this years Benifits going to (The Boys & Girls Club.)

I have fished this derby the last 6 years except 2 years ago when my teammate Shawn's wife had their 2nd child that morning and I can't say enough about the terrific time I had meeting so many good people...

Can't wait...See you there...

Hey riverfisher. I called Dad and he said that you could use his surf spinning reel if you fill it with something other than blue stren line. He also said that he had an old cane pole up in the garage that would handle any fish that you could catch in the derby.

No doubt the blast off is the coolest thing to see! It's like a Bizbee start, but all aluminum Yeehaaaaaaaaa
