Someone told me the netters decided the price of fish was to low so they are not going to fish.Sounds to good to be true to me.

Maybe they're in already, since the fish counts dropped.?

There was an article in yesterdays Oregonian about allowing a commercial netting season. The article states the nets will go in this Monday at 7pm until Wednesday 7pm beginning at the Longview bridge.

If the nets go in this will surely slow fishing upstream next week.

I was in Astoria chasing fisheys and at the pacific pride there as a nasty smelly gill net boat filling up arund 1:30. The net guy stated that he would be working on sunday.

No more details from him he just wanted to know how we did and wanted to see our 18# clipped coho.

Does anyone know what the gillnetters do with the dark fish they catch?

They probably "release" them. Rumor has it, our friends, the Native Americans are releasing silvers from their nets upriver cause their only targets are URB's. Hope that's not true.

Streetwalker:
Yes, the indian nets were in from Hwy 97 south at least to Hood River on Friday. Not sure for how long.
