I fished Fresh Tillamook Bait Company Purple Label herring, with a spritz of Marie's Salmon Feast today outside the Tillamook Jetty and came up with a prize! I really think big, fresh herring are the ticket and there aren't many places that have them. Marie and Dennis have my vote for the best bait around.

I've been spoiled by the lazy fish in the Columbia ... this hen tested me! 38 pounds, nice, solid eggs, 4 strong - reel burning runs and a solid netting job by ... well, I was fishing alone, I did it myself. I'd forgotten the feeling of wondering if I would or wouldn't land it until it was in the boat ... the shaking that doesn't stop for half an hour ... wondering what I'd do if I hooked another one after tiring my arms out on this brute. OK, I'm ready for more!

WTG Pete!!! That's a spectacular fish. I'm glad to see such a magnificent fish after last year's bust at Tillamook. Hopefully, we're in for a better year this year! Thanks for sharing.
