Default Any Elk hunters want some Yellow Fin Tuna?

Greetings -

I didn't get my elk this year, but had spectacular luck on our annual long range tuna trip out of San Diego in November. I was wondering if any elk hunters would like to trade for some really nice vacume packed yellow fin tuna chunks? I'm really particular about how I treat my fish, especially tuna. These were bled immediately after coming onto the boat, and chilled in an RSW (refrigerated sea water) tank on the boat. They were taken off the boat and loined and commercially vacume packed by Five Star Fish Processing. They'll be air shipped north from San Diego when I'm ready.

This stuff is unbelievably good as sushi or seared (often called Ahi). I grill alot of it with a marinade of soy sauce, brown sugar and ginger. IMHO, it cans up better than Albacore because it has better flavor. Canned it is a light pink color, but not as white as Albacore.

Anyway, I've got a ton of fresh frozen fish (well not quite a ton!). I'd be glad to trade some to a fellow IFish'er for elk meet from an elk harvested this fall (ground, on the bone, roasts). Drop me a PM if you are interested.

Thanks,

John,

I've got about 20 lbs. of fresh ground elk I'd be willing to trade. I just got my bull in October and got it back a few weeks ago. Well cared for - shot it on a very cold day in Eastern Oregon (one shot through the lungs - no bloodshot meat) and had it skinned and hanging whole within an hour. Got down to 15 degrees at night so it stayed very cool for 3 days until I brought it home and straight to the butcher. Took it to Frontier custom meat in Carlton and they did a great job. I work downtown Portland - can fill up a small cooler of cut and wrapped ground and meet you?

Oh yeah - we've already eaten 5 lbs of it and it's great - better than beef. Don't have any roasts - did lots of sausage this year - will throw in a 5 pack of brats for you too.

Let me know.

Joe
