Default Nissan Titan

I was curious if any fellow Ifishers have had any experience with Nissan Titans. I am in the market for a new rig and really like the looks of them. I probably wont buy brand new as I hate to pay depreciation but was hoping to find a low mile 2005 or 2006. Anyone out there driving one. Lets hear the good and the bad. Thanks.

Im interested in what people have to say, too. My daughter and son-in-law have a Titan (don't know if its 2005 or 2006) and they like it. I like it too, but would like to hear more long term reports on them.

Do a search. There have been a few threads on the subject in the past few months. For example, here is one... http://www.ifish.net/board/showthrea...ighlight=Titan

Apparently the early ones (2004 I think) had brake issues, but that has been cleared up. I'd really love to buy one, especially since I have a Nissan specialist close by who is very reasonable and only works on Nissans. He gives high marks to the Titan and Armada models.

But the danged thing doesn't have high enough armrests for me. Sounds silly, but I like driving comfort.

Looks like my next SUV will be a Toyota Sequoia. Everything fits and they are super reliable.

I have a 2005 titan crew cab and like it a lot. The brake issues are not fixed, but they will quickly get you in and out of the service dept. if you have problems. Gas mileage has been about 14 in the city and 16 on the highway. I get a couple of miles better highway mileage when using pure fuel that you can buy in eastern O. Not this ethanol crud we have to buy locally.

Would I buy another one... yes.

Oh and another thing. They make one heck of a mess out of a deer when hit at 75 miles an hour.

I have an '06 Titan, and love it. Pulls my boat (Triton bass boat - probably 4500 lbs total) perfect, you don't even feel it back majority of the time. And I am still able to get about 13 mpg going over the coast range towards Ten Mile, and 15 if just traveling around the valley. I get around 16/17 normally, but I am a little hard on the gas pedal at times. It is a fast truck, can really burn the tires if you want to ruin some good rubber.

I ended up getting the crew cab (I think it the crew - suicide doors, not the 4 door) because I wanted a 6' bed, so it would hold my motorcycle. The bed kit, with the move-able tie-down system is pretty trick. Never thought I would use it much, but I have a ton.

The interior is sweet for a truck, but my previous truck was a '94 F-150, so I really don't have a great comparison. Came with a Rockford Fosgate sound system and I think it sounds good, but never been much of a stereo guy. It will fix 4 guys comfortably and 5 if they like cuddling in the back.

There are a couple of things that drive me nuts however:

1) As with any new rig, there is a lot of plastic inside, and that equates to rattles and ticks that are a pain to isolate sometimes.

2) The back-up sensors are not the greatest. If you have the tailgate down or a trailor hooked up they go beserk when you pop the truck in reverse. Not a huge deal, as they are easy to turn off, but my buddies who back my boat for the first time want to kill me if I forget to tell them. But hell, they are backup sensors, I was just stoked to have them

3) As a driver, if anything falls out of your right pocket into the "black hole" between the seat and the console, forget about it. You will have to pull over and do some digging to find it....

I guess those are really my only complaints. I have had it for almost 2 years now and have around 35K on it. No mechanical problems so far (knock on wood), just regular maintence...

That is all I have for now, let me know if you have any specific questions...

My buddies sounds like a NASCAR in the cab with no aftermarket exhaust. Definetly more engine noise when you stomp on the gas compared to other full size half tons. That can be good or bad depending on your point of view... That thing hauls some serious you-know-what.
