They did interview 2 of the 4 that left the church and surprisingly enough they think the rest are nuts.

Well Rich, it looks like there's hope for the world after all.
There is and always has been a fringe element in society who will try to persuade others with false messages. Those who will actually believe them are minimal. The other responses to this thread give a pretty indication of that.

the elder Phelps that started the church has 13 children and all but 4 continue to preach his gospel.

Yep, and that is exactly what it is..."
his" gospel. There are 2.1 billion Christians in this world who follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If Mr. Phelps is indeed a student of the Bible, he has surely read the sermon on the mount. It would be interesting how he would reconcile himself with Jesus' words. Matthew 7:15-17,20
"Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit...therefore by their fruits you will know them." Amen.
