Question Maglite LED Flashlights

Hi:
Has anyone had any experience with the LED version of the 3 or 4 D cell Maglite flashlights? Are they as bright as the conventional flashlights? Same quality?

Manufacturers web site is here: http://www.maglite.com/LED_technology_Letter.asp

I'm not familiar with that flashlight but I recently picked up a Coast LED LENSER from Joes. It has a maximum wattage of 3.44 and 65 lumens. It says tactical use and is small but will absolutely blind you if you look directly at it.

Pretty cool little flashlight for $50.

We Carry StreamLights at work with 2 switches 1 for regular flash light and one with LED. In my opinion the regular light works better in you want to see further.

At deer camp this year a buddy had the LED maglite.
I was impressed how bright it was and it shined a bright beam to a good distance.
I'm going to invest in one.

The stream light is a great light. I will go to the next one when they get the LED a little brighter. It is bright now but I need it brighter for my own personal preference. I have the ultra and it will blind you.

LEDs are really bright when looked at at close range. I already have one that I use on the boat.

The issue that I've experienced is that they don’t' seem to get the same range that a conventional bulb will get.

Traditional Maglites have, IMHO, a well-established reputation for building a excellent flashlight. The range/penetration is among the best made.

Just not sure if their new LEDs will have comparable range to the traditional lights.

I Ifish

Those LED Flashlight Light bulbs for the Mag lights, are NICE.. Quality wise, still too new to the market, needs more public testing time. Cost $18.00, takes 10 seconds to Install, Chimp simple!. Battery life is lot longer. Still waiting for battery to die...

Brightness, they have a Slight blue-ish Tint to them "That white LED glow".

Distance for the beam, Will say about the same, just with that Blushish tint.

Was doing Flood Evac, Monday in Sheriden, Ran my 4 Cell Mag light with a 3 Cell LED light inside. Ran all night no problems. Dropped from 4 feet into 2 foot of silty flood water that lasted 1 second. Did not get a chance to get wet. FAST HANDS Kept on running so Dropping it did not hurt it.

Will be buying few more, Lost one in the flood Grrrrrrrrrr. Love the MagLite ( MADE IN THE USA !!!!) Main reason I buy & use it.
