Default Luck on the Nestucca

We had action all day and it was a long day. This was my Valentines present to my wife.
Her first Winter Steelhead experience ever. She hooked Eight fish and landed Six.
Marty had us side drifting eggs and it was a blast. The second picture was a 12 lb buck we inducted into the Brood Stock program. A nicer man and a greater outdoorsman I have never met.
Marty Peterson has a passionate love for the Nestucca river and all of Oregon. I consider him a friend and he is a pleasure to fish with.

Great Luck-a on the Nestucca! But, truth be told, with your experience and choice of Marty as a guide I think you've again proven the old saying; Luck is the residue of preparation!

I'm envious of what was clearly a wonderful day on the water!

I recently had a float on the Nestucca and it was absolutely amazing. I sure wish my wife would long for a good steelie fight!! She did fish with me for a few minutes yesterday....wait, that's right....she sat in the car with our 11month old.....she said that it was awesome to go fishing with me as we crawled into bed last night......

Awesome fish!

I'm taking my 10 year old daughter with Marty on the 23rd. I expect we'll get to add some fish to the broodstock program too.

I'm not sure who's more excited, her or me. Nothing quite like getting kids out that are excited about fishing.

I have adopted this policy that for now on whenever I am fishing with my wife it is my intention that she catches all the fish or at least she gets first shot at it. If we are in the boat or near the water, I make sure she is the one catching fish. I used to be impatient and grab the rod out of her hand when I thought the fish was getting away and all those stupid things husband do to ruin there fun. Also: I bought her all the gear that I have. Waders, rods, rain gear etc.. I was shocked recently when she bought herself a new reel at the Sportsmans Warehouse. She told me " Your reels are junk " Well there you go, She's getting to be a fine fisherwoman. She is my favorite fishing partner and I love to see her catch fish.
When we floated Monday I didn't catch a single fish. I had several bites or takes but I didn't hook
even one fish. And it's not that I wasn't trying. I figured after her third Steelhead it was ok for me to catch one. But as luck had it I didn't have any.

If you want your wife to be your fishing partner take her fishing. Make sure she catches fish. Make sure she is having fun. Soon she will be begging you to take her. Who knows maybe someday she will teach you a thing or two. A good start would be to hire Marty to take you fishing. I can't begin to tell how great he is.

Tanner:
Marty mentioned you when I told him that I play guitar. Up until a year ago that's about all I did. I decided I wasn't getting enough fishing in so I put the Dang thing in its case. He said you were a pretty neat guy. Actually he said you are a fishing fool, which means the same thing as far as I am concerned. Oh ! we went around your hole so don't worry about that. I studied Jazz for the most part but I love the Blues and Swing Style rock. Maybe some day we will get the chance to Noodle some licks together ?

Zaq,
Yeah, I probably should of used another term so people with THEIR MINDS IN THE GUTTER wouldn't respond with something like that.

Abalone,
Any time you want to do a little pickin just drop me an e-mail. I'm not great but I can hold my own, mostly rock and blues rock style. With lots of heavy metal influence.
