Default Ilwaco Report 9/11

Fished out of Ilwaco today with 2 of my buddies. We hopped the bar at first light and dropped lines at buoy 4. The ocean was pretty sloppy for my 19 foot sled and the fog was so thick, visibility was next to none. We managed 2 in the box and released 2 nates. The seas started to get a little bigger so after 40 minutes of fishing, I fired up the GPS and headed for 10.
The fishing in the river was SLOW! We put 1 more in the box and missed 2 short strikes for 6 hours of fishing. Everyone I spoke with was having the same results and I did not see anyone with limits. Oh well, I guess if every trip out resulted in 20 fish days, it would get boring. Did I say that out loud? Yikes!

TB, I think you went the wrong way. Word is there has been an OK bite above the bridge.

Fishbait,
I'm gonna fish way above the bridge next trip, like around the Portland area. I gotta find some Salmon closer to home. I hope something sparks around Frenchman's bar pretty soon

All the guides I know that fished this weekend took limits up near and above the bridge.

I wish I was there.....

We also found it very slow 9/11/01. Put in at hammond at about 6:30am jetted out to 10 put lines in fished about 1 hour with no take downs ran the can line back to hammond caught one and released one, jetted to the red lion put lines in picked up one and released one. It was a sad day in all parts of the world.

Just so you also know not 1 boat at the church hole or above the bridge. we saw no guides putting out at hammond???

But we did see one guy go home witha peace of paper. (Costly day for him)

God Bless America
