Stew, it is hard for something to make me cry. I was a combat person in the gulf war, I am pretty caloused emotionaly. I had to leave work early today because I had a hard time dealing with the mixed emotions. Your feelings are normal, I am sure. Nothing is going to heal you better than time. I beg everyone reading this, do not hate the arabic type people that work at 7-11 or whatever. They are completely different than the type of people that did this, for the most part. Please do not stereo-type. There are ******** in every nationality. I will more than likely quite my job and re-up in the Navy, if this ends up being Saddam, because we did not complete the job, My wife isn't to cool about this but a guy has to do what he feels is right. Stew, if you need somebody to chit chat with e- mail me I will give you my phone number. I am not by any means a shrink or an expert on anything that I can be proud of.

I am with Sledder on this. I am also a Vet from the gulf war and time is the only thing around to help.

Bigstew If needed please e-mail me and then I can get you my home # to talk with me. I am not sure about the Veitnam vets but with the gulf I had to do a little time with the Dr about not sleeping and dreaming about the war. I might and mightnot be able to help you. Also we can also discuss things over the Floatilla when we go.

Fly your flags if you have them, if not then darn it go out and get one. Put it on your car, house, work truck, boat anything to show that you care.

My flag flies 24/7 and I'm dam* proud to do so.
Viet Nam had a large effect on me and I, too, say that time can heal/help but talking with someone in any medium whether e-mail or phone or whatever is the best therapy you can get.

Let us not begin a new type of racism and go off on anyone who appears to be from the Mid-East.

Try to trust our leaders to do the right thing and take out the cowards who've done this to us. This is a new kind of warfare we're not familiar with and it'll not be an easy battle to win. But win we will!!!!

Sledder,
You can say, you are not proud of your expertise, there is nothing I can do about that But I can tell you I am proud of you for your expertise, and your past service

I just had my 20 year class reunion and the guy in my class who was also a navy seal is home for the same reasons you told me you left the service. He could not even attend the party, he is having problems with just dealing with life in general.

They can train you to kill, I wish they could train you to deal with the side effects emotionally that come with the killing.

May you find peace.

Post-traumatic stress is very commom, and it is nothing to be ashamed of. It is a natural response to extraordinary events. It has a neurological basis. Every time we do something with our brain, it grows new synapses which allow the brain to perform those tasks better next time. When you learn to ride a bike, you get better as time goes by because your brain changes to accomodate the new tasks it is called on to do. When you learn to read, it's the same thing. Your brain changes to accomodate the new tasks.

When we are put under traumatic circumstances, again, our brain adjusts to deal with them. But this time, when the circumstances are gone, the brain is still wired to deal with them, and continues to act as if it is dealing with them. Hence, nightmares, depression, anxiety, etc.

Now I'm no psychiatrist, or anything like that, but from what I know the way to deal with it is to rewire the brain by dealing with it, and moving past it, and doing things that will result in different reactions than the post-traumatic stress so the brain becomes accustomed to normalcy again.

I worked with patients in nursing homes who were still suffering from post traumatic stress 50 years after the end of World War II. It wasn't recognized back then, and so they never dealt with it. Some Alzheimers patients I worked with couldn't even remember their own names, but they could remember every detail of when they were wounded or shot down in the war. That is how profound the neurological changes are, and that's why it is important to deal with them, rather than ignoring them and allowing those changes in the brain to become more firmly established.

Good post Happybrew. Thank you. In addition to the things you mentioned, it should be known that the latest seretonin re-uptake inhibitor medications help a lot in restoring the normal brain chemistry for post traumatic stress syndrome; as well as effectively helping the more common anxiety and depression challenges caused by long term everyday stressors. People in need should know about these things and use them in a doc's care without feeling conscientious about it. I did after 3 failed foot surgeries and they helped a lot. Take care, and know that biz will be taken care of and reasonably normal quality life will go on.

If you want to keep it, right click on it, then "save as" and put it in a folder somewhere on your PC. Hope it made Stew feel a bit better.

I agree with the Firefighter and they should build the towers twice as high and twice as big! Then put a couple of anti-aircraft guns on top.

******,
Although sometimes I grumble about all the pictures taking up so much space, I admit your graphics are fantastic!
Did you do those yourself?
Remember... all pics are copyright ifish.net.
KIDDING!
I guess that was all MY pics are copyright... hmmm, darn!
They are awesome, Nan... You REALLY should submit some of those to some higher powers and have them available publicly. Watermark them too!
Send them to CNN or??? Who???
Really good!
We have the tower one on our fridge! Andrew, my son put it there! Do I have permission?

Great graphics ******!! To all you ifishers i'd like to say how great it is to be associated with a bunch of great Americans. In this terribly traumatic time the devotion to the preservation of our freedom rings out loud. We will perservere. Through the shock and sorrow from this outrage against the United States the American spirit holds strong. Terrorists say your prayers for your time is short.

Proud to be a American

At first I wanted to blow up every arab country out there that may be held responsible, but then I started to think in terms of religion...and started thinking that this is really between good and evil and that this is a test of our faith...according to some; we may be seeing what could escalate into the end. Some say that it starts in the holy land and that "all nations converge on one" and than god comes in and annilates everyone and than a thousand years of peace and on and on ...scary? ya I thought so myself, but why is this so scary?? a test of our faith?if we believe in god than heaven is a better place than we could ever experience in our lives here on earth? Our loved ones past and present will be there....Also just think of the fishing territory god must have for us so for me am trying to think of this act of pure evil on these terms...you know I did not consider myself to be very religous but now am not sure, I do pray that I am found worthy of going into heaven and that now may be my own wake up call to start checking myself...when you think about some of this it does add up ....the good and evil thing ...this would be right up the devils alley... so instead of just nukeing all these countrys and innocents, like the devil would want, I hope that we can go for the perpetrators and those responsible and that we can somehow end terrorism....thanks for letting me spill.

dampainter - Yeah, it's a tough battle good against evil. It's especially tough when you get the forces of evil on both sides working against you and innocent people pay the price. I'm talking about both terrorism and worshipping the "almighty dollar." Don't get me wrong, I like money & toys as much as the next person, but money is not my God.

See my post, Airline Priorities - a bad picture.

Maybe I'll make it your way today. If not, good luck on the bench tomorrow.

Not mine Jen. Found them on the net.

Hey anyone doing it, DON'T save animated graphics to Jen's server via the upload page. It uses up her hard disk space and slows down her server. Paste the address link into the image box. This leaves the animations on the server it resides. Will
keep mine down too Jen. Jen, also please delete any/all of my pictures on your upload
page, anytime you need disk space.
