I totally agree with you. I think they deserve better treatment by all, including myself. I am really sorry for ripping on them so hard. The vast majority of them do not deserve it. I bet that 99.9% of cops are really good people. The one time you may get a crumby ticket because the cop has had a rough day, everybody has had one of those. They deserve more money for what they do.

Thank you for the kind words. Work was tough yesterday - I had just arrived at work when the first tower fell. All I could think about at that moment was how many of my fraternal brothers and sisters just died? Portland and Gresham fire stations had extra personnel on duty yesterday just in case something was to happen over here.

To watch the rest of the tragedy unfold was terrible, and the loss of life unimaginable. If logistics work out I hope to go to NY for the memorial service(s).

Thank you for your thoughts, Like WMB I was also on duty yesterday and work was tough. When we wernt on runs we were glued to the TV hoping that the reports of over 200 firefighters killed wasnt/isnt true. I dont know how many of you know firefighters and are friends with them but we are a family a huge one. If you are a firefighter you are a brother or a sister and we have lost a big part of our familiy.I feel for everyone that has lost loved ones and family and friends in this terrible tragedy also. Given the opportunity I will go back to help, not sure if that is going to happen or not but I am hoping.

I also hope to be able to get back there for the memorial(s) if not sooner to help. Keep the Firefighters and Police officers in your thoughts. They are working harder and doing everything humanly possible to get survivors out. Firedog

As a retired trooper with 25 fairly safe years under my belt I can't imagine the pain of the families and fellow firefighters and policemen in New York. And the military who died at the Pentagon. I spent 8 years in the military and we used to joke about the paper pushers at the Pentagon. No more. They are all heroes. Those firefighters who climbed the stairs while the workers struggled to get out, there are not enough superlatives to describe them. I only hope there is an afterlife because these people will be at the top of the ladder. To all of you brothers out there still punching the clock, be safe! We admire and respect you all!!
