Sunday Duckin'
With that nasty weather that supposed to show up at the coast, would it be safe to say that a few of our coastal birds would head inland to avoid the really heave winds? We are looking to go and even though we've had some great hunting the last few times locally our spots get hammered on the weekend and we are thinking of doing some exploring. Anyone else going to head to the lower columbia?

Re: Sunday Duckin'
Double typhoons converging on the coast have my lower river plans postponed until another weekend.
I suspect it will be a very wild weekend fer sure....anywhere!
Good luck to all, and BE SAFE OUT THERE!

Re: Sunday Duckin'
We were thinking about heading down to the LC Sunday but with the weather forcast we are thinking about sticking closer to home. Anyone know exactly what they are forcasting down there Sunday? I have heard anywhere from 30mph winds all the way to 90 mph winds!! If its the lesser of the two we might still make the trek otherwise its close to home!

Man I can hardly wait till sunday...... nothing like watching a flock of birds flying on the deck and it takes them 5 min to go 100 yards and then they just float infront of you. Bring it On!!

Re: Sunday Duckin'
I am PROBABLY going to give it a go Sunday, although I hate hunting in a downpour. Lets all be safe, willing to cancel, and on the look out for friends in need, i.e., an upside down green camo Boston Whaler!

Re: Sunday Duckin'
Hitting the Lower C tomorrow with a couple good friends. Should be good expecially if we get some snow flurries. Sunday, I may stick closer to home for a quick morning hunt before the honey do's call me back.

Re: Sunday Duckin'
Wind is great, but you need birds and at some point the birds know better than to fly and will tuck in somewhere.

[quote=Tilla;1765678]Wind is great, but you need birds and atWhile there is such thing as too much, if it plays out as predicted, we should be ok this weekend. I won't be crossing any big water, and won't mess around mid river Sunday. Should be intersting.

Re: Sunday Duckin'
Please don't go to the L.C. on a day with a 945 mb Barometer plan.
That is absolute insanity.
Even for a bunch of crazy duckers like you!
And me too.
Not worth death.

Re: Sunday Duckin'
The W Man changed from one big blow sunday pm, to two big blows, one Sunday am, one Sunday pm/Mon. am. Hmm. The other thing is, it's already been blowing and it could reduce the tide by more than a ft. on south side marshes, the only conceivable place to hunt. That and heavy rain.

Re: Sunday Duckin'
2"+ of rain tomorrow and nother 2+" in by Tuesday. Can you say sheet water? Birds will move off the river and find what they can. Rest assured every divit and low spot will have water in it. That could be good, or may spread out what few birds that are already around. We'll see....
As the old saying at the eastside checkstation used to read, "When the wind blows and the water is high....the ducks will die." (Not politically correct, but functionally accurate.:tongue

Re: Sunday Duckin'
Thumbar and I gave it a whirl today. Pretty exciting. The calm b4 the storm was weird..., picked up and moved our spread as we lost water to the early am tide, and wham! Popcorn in the marsh! Can't imagine the puddlers will not want to escape from it- we sure did. Hauled 2 long lines in as fast as we had our birds and got out of dodge( what a mess!). Lots of trees and power lines down--and the BIG storm is tonight?

Re: Sunday Duckin'
Glad to hear all was ok. I chickened out and hunted close to home.
Not many birds were flying up here. Like they were gone.
