Pray for peace
I urge each and every one of you to take a quiet moment to pray for the thousands of victims of the terror this morning.
I guess the most important thing we all can do is to stay calm, (I need to remember this, as I just told Captain Joe, Bill and Captains wife, Evelyn, that I didn't feel comfortable fishing Buoy 10 today with them. )
Anyway, stay calm, pray for peace, and know that there will be alot of misinformation out there.
I keep feeling the need to call everyone I love and tell them! Is that over reacting?

Re: Pray for peace
I want the bad guys to get caught to. I surely do not want to have to fight the bad guys, so I would like to not see a war. It is very sad but will a war solve the problem? It will cause more American deaths.
It is very sad that so many died, I hope no more people get hurt or die.
We need peace not war.

Re: Pray for peace
We should pray for peace, but we should also pray for justice. I think we are going to go to war. I just pray it is done with quickly, with a minimum of loss of life on all sides, and that this NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN.

Re: Pray for peace
My prayers go out to all the families and friends of those killed in this merciless, unprevoked attack on innocent men, women and children. It is so scarey to see that this can happen anywhere, anytime.

Re: Pray for peace
During this time of tragedy and kaos it is important to put our hearts in the right place.
Pray for the victims that their souls are saved.
Pray for the families of the victims that God will give them the strength to handle this tragedy.
Pray for our nation as we enter into a time of sorrow.
Pray for our leaders that God will provide them with the wisdom to make decisions on how to handle this tragedy.
This is a very tough time in our recent history and please be sure to hug your family today and everday.

Re: Pray for peace
I share every ones concerns for the victims and their families. This is a horrible thing. I cannot express my sorrow or my anger with words.
I also have a knot of fear way down deep. My husband, a 20 year Navy retiree, received an "invitation" to return to active duty about 3 months ago. In light of todays events, the next letter from Uncle Sam may not be an invitation. As much as I hate the thought of hubby returning to the Persian Gulf again, I know if he is needed, he won't hesitate.
I will not pray for peace, but for wisdom of our Commander In Chief, justice for the victims, and the strength to wipe out those who harm a peace loving nation.

Re: Pray for peace
Catch the bad guys, punish them good, try for peace on OUR TERMS, then war. War is not bad but should not be the first option. If we need to do it I am for it but it should not be the first option.
Did anybody get sick when they showed the Palestinians celebrating the plance crashes? The worst part was the children celebraing Americvan pain and suffering. It was on NBC and I think there were details on kgw.com.
I hope knowone on the mesage board had any friend or familiy hurt or killed.

Re: Pray for peace
How could anyone not pray for peace? I don't understand that mentality.
I understand that we need to retaliate to protect our freedom.
I wish it weren't so.
I pray for peace. A world where there is no need to kill on either side.
Dream on, they say...
I do. I dream.
And miracles happen.
The miracle I pray for is the miracle of a peaceful world.
Most sincerely,
Jen

Re: Pray for peace
Although I want whoever did this to pay just as bad as anyone else, I can't help but think of the many innocent lives that are affected incidentally by war anywhere...
The people dancing in the streets happy about the attacks? Stunningly sad ignorance.
I get so confused by "Thou shalt not kill" and then "An eye for an eye".
I should stop this talk about this on the board, right? Sorry! I guess sometimes there ARE more important things than fishing, and we have a pretty tight knit community here and I'm thankful for this outlet of my thoughts.
I should be more tough, I know.
By the way, I mean no disrespect to anyone who doesn't believe in God or a higher power.
Back to fishing, to everyday life.
Funny though.. I just went down to the river to fly fish for a break inbetween loads of laundry and web work.
Everything is so calm, so natural so beautiful. I see a leaf drop from a tree into the calm water. It seems so contradictory, so innocent, so strange.
It's like seeing a bloody battle scene on TV and singing, "Silent Night", or "What a beautiful world"...
Tremendous sadness in my heart.
Jen

Re: Pray for peace
Phish On praying for targets? I find that surprising.
Pray for the dead and wounded. Donate blood when they ask for it. I heard they had all they could handle in Portland, but they will continue to need more in the coming weeks.
Our armed forces have a very serious task ahead of them. Pray for them as well.
Pray for the rescue workers. They will be working non-stop in a situation none of us would want to be in for a long time.
Pray for all the witnesses who had to see that and will be haunted by it for a long time.
Pray for those who may fall prey to hatred, on all sides. That is the cause of this. We can take steps to protect ourselves without hating, and it is probably more effective when thought through rationally.
Pray for the doctors and nurses treating the wounded. Pray for the family members of all those involved.
And I know that this isn't going to be what a lot of people want to hear, but we should pray for the perpetrators as well.

Re: Pray for peace
As most of us have known for a long time, these organizations will use ANYTHING at their disposal to kill Americans. If they had nuclear bombs they would not hesitate for one second to annihilate us. I think it is only a matter of time before they get them. Perhaps our politicos should bear this in mind as they decide how to deal with them.

Re: Pray for peace
If we weren't so **** soft on So **** In Sane and made a parking lot out of Iraq as a show of force maybe these b*****ds might think twice. Probably not as these people, and I use that term loosely, don't think like the rest of us. I too pray for peace(a piece of who ever is responsible). I can't express all the anger that I feel at this time.

Re: Pray for peace
Remember the Oklahoma bombing? We were furious with the terrorist groups, and ready to get even. Then it turned out it was a home-grown boy who did it.
Let's not affix blame blindly. Most of all, let's not blame our fellow citizens who may have middle eastern roots or appearance. We don't know who did it. Let us find and punish the terrorists with due process in accordance with the laws of the land.
All Americans weep today, of all skin colors and nationalities. Let us be gentle with one another.

Re: Pray for peace
I have to pray for all the innocent people who'll be killed in forthcoming actions, by us, and by terrorists. As I type this...bombs are falling in Afghanistan. Innocent people are dying there too. No words can describe my feelings for what happened today, and I hope those involved in this senseless attack meet a slow and painful death. These monsters will only understand one form of justice, and I hope they understand it soon. I pray for the families whove lost loved ones in todays attack, and for those who are injured. All terrorists need to be eliminated from the face of the earth. Period.

Re: Pray for peace
In a time like this there is no partisan politics! No democrats or republicans! We're Americans! and we don't take this lightly. The cowards need to know that they have now drawn the line in the sand and America WILL act! In the words of a great American spoken over 40 years ago."Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty"
I too pray for peace but I also pray for swift and sure justice to those that committed this heinous act!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!

Re: Pray for peace
So what do I care if we take out the "wrong" terrorist group? Is there such a thing? If this WAS Bin Laden and his boys, then maybe if we'd roasted him after OK City and THEN dealt with McVeigh when the truth came out, we wouldn't be having this conversation now.
I see this as a reason to take SEVERE action against ALL terrorist groups. Spend the money they are going to WASTE on a missle-defense system, and spend it mopping up these terrorists at their training camps in the Middle East and North Africa. We must also deal with the people who finance these groups. Broke terrorists are not effective terrorists.
Sorry, but my prayers are reserved for those who were killed, their families, and the survivors in NY that were the targets of these cowards. Pray for the cowards that did this......I think not.
