I haven't gotten excited about a new rod in a little while. I went to the new Sportsman's Warehouse in Anchorage tonight. I picked up a 12 1/2' Shimano Convergence rod. I can't wait to hook a salmon/trout/steelhead with this thing, it is awesome.
My Loomis' may have to stay home for a while. Best thing is I only paid $49.99.
Has anyone used a convergence before? Do you like them?
I just have to throw in some more party guys I am so excited.

I used an 8'6" Convergence drift rod for a few years. I only replaced it when it got damaged. I have a 10'6" Convergence that I use as a float/jig and spoon rod with no complaints.
I recently bought a 10 foot Convergence rod and my first time out with it I hooked two fish on a bobber and jig. It also happened to be my first ever attempt at jig fishing! Enjoy your rod.

I have a 8'6" and a 10'6" convergence. I love them both. Both are medium light action. I have looked at the all the other rods and I liked these the best before I even bought them. I have got several steelhead on both and I am liking them even better. Going after springers this weekend and can't wait to see how they are with a big springer and 14# test.
I've got an 8'6" Convergence that is my steelie/silver rod. Fished it for 4 years so far and if I ever need to replace it, it'll be with another Convergence.

I fished with the con*****ncefor a couple of years andcaught alot of big nates with it withouy ever a problem. I broke the tip` off it so it is an 8ft rod that I still use when fishing tight places or smaller creeks. Its a killer rod for 50 bones.
I have 2 of them that we use for float/worm and float/jig set ups, I have caught 40 springs on the vedder with them too. we use 20 and 30 pound power pro on them with no problems....dj
I have found the convergence 10 1/2 to be too slow of an action for my taste. I swapped it for a Diawa Heartland 10 1/2 footer in a heavier action blank. This rod tends to suit my style of fishing a bit better....i.e. -floats and bait, plastic worms, etc.
I found I was losing too many fish due to a poor hookset with the Shimano rod....of course I'm usually setting on a bobber-down that is 200 yds away most of the time!!!
