Default Yaquina Bay update

For some reason my computer does not want to perform the search feature. Can anyone give me a report on the Yaquina Bay/river Chinook fishery? Is it worth going yet? Where might be a good spot to hit? My wife wants me to take her this weekend.

Last year about this time, I would put in at the Newport marina, drop the crab pots around the bridge, and motor up past the big green tank fishing near the buoys on the south side of tidewater. I always got crab, and two out of three trips I caught chinook on cut-plug herring as well. I'm not sure how its doing yet this year, but I would be interested in hearing, too. Have a good time this weekend. HT

Thanks for the info...took your advice and called Harry's in Newport. He said most of the activity has been up at Toledo. We boated a 33" in the mail hole at 8:15 sat. Got excited about having a great day and proceeded to catch nothing else all day. We motored down as far as the jaws to the bay and marked more fish in the Toledo area than anywhere else. They just would not bite. Most boats had anywhere between zero and one fish.
