Default Special Weather Statement:

Did you see this? Weird that they didn't mention this on the weather. Anyway, it probably won't happen, but if you are planning a fishing trip, best that you know there is a chance!

Wow. My stupid neighbors at the coast still have not cleaned up their mess from last time two weeks ago when Ocean Park had 90 MPH gusts. One of their trees missed my house by two inches. I called these folks and left a nice message for them about their mess. Hope they get it cleaned up soon. I cleaned up two of their trees that fell on or near my house last year. Not doing it again this year.

Only about 10 feet is mine. Think I'll lop it off and decorate it.

Tie it down to the bow of you GB and enter the Christmas Ships Fleet - lights up the out riggers, setup you tuna spread, drag a string of LED lights in you favorite colors and chug through the harbor at 7kts

I hear ya Jennie - I'm convinced that know body can predict the weather in the PNW with much accuracy past 1/2 a day - too many variables. When I started school in Forest Grove the University said this about Oregon weather. "If you cannot see Mt. Hood, it is raining, if you can it isn't raining, but it will soon."

I've decided to become a weather forecaster. My plan: forecast that every day it's going to rain.

If I'm right, people are satisfied that I'm right. If instead the sun comes out, everyone's happy that it didn't rain. If it snows, most folks are delighted that it has snowed. If anything except rain happens, pretty much everyone is happy.

I don't see a problem with this plan. I'm headed out to buy a large selection of ties now so I look good in front of the "green wall".

That is why the media isn't hyping it....yet. One thing at a time, right now it's "Its going to snow" that is above 1000ft. Most folks in this area live below 1000ft, but the hype is on. Its early in the season.
This time of the year forecasting is :lurk:time.

That last storm broke off about 1/2 of my Asian Pear trees. I cut it up leaving a nice neat pile of firewood at the base of the tree but hauled all the limbs down by the rivers so that the next high water would wash them into position to be fish habitat. A couple of mornings later the whole pile was gone! After some investigation which revealed drag marks to the river, The missing pile of limbs appeared some 200 yards downstream at the site where our resident old beaver had been stacking his fresh cut willows all spring and summer. Thanks for the help old beaver!

I thought it was because of oceananic CO2 levels that will not be reversable for the next 10,000 years. Now I am really confused.

Let me settle this for ya Cooky. It's not Al's Fault. It's not Bush's fault. It's Chuck Norris fault. He's in Shanghai and broke wind. Takes awhile for the results to hit home.

Special Weather Bulletin.

It has been snowing at 1100' in Vernonia since 1:30pm.

Someone, please tell the NWS that this isn't rain. While you're on the phone, tell the sanding trucks to saddle up. Folks are at a standstill on Hwy 47 right now.

Gee Bill, did the earth shift upward? Last time I checked Vernonia was only around 625'. Yep the roads are a little nasty out there though! Is your house 1100', didn't think it would be that high. Had about 4" on Clatskanie Mt. at 7pm.

Yeah, as long as I share a zipcode with you I'll claim Vernonia as my home port. Actual elevation on my place is from 1000 to 1100, depending on where you stand. I could count tree tops too and then run it up to 1250 feet. Heck, that is twice as far as Vernonia above sea level.

This is what I'm worried about:

Damaging windstorm poised to strike after snow day on Saturday

According to KATU Meteorologist Rod Hill, what could potentially be the biggest windstorm in years will be aimed in our direction on Sunday and what is so worrisome is that it could last for as long as 30 hours, right into Monday. Read more »

I'm keeping an eye on the updates from the National Weather Service, as they update throughout the day. Hundred mile winds for a day aren't what I call "fun".

It's NASTY out there.

Woke up at 5 a.m. by breaking glass. The wind break for the house has been ripped off the house. So many shingles around the area I can't begin to count and we get another day of this? This is horrible, it's going to take me (and everyone else) weeks to recover from this one. Get reay insurance company, my claim begins at 10 a.m.
