Default More on nocturnal steelhead.....from the bank!

Fished Saturday night/Sunday morning at the bench at the mouth of the Big White Salmon River, across from Hood River along with FishFinder. I've been fishing there since 1990, whenever I can. It was incredible the amount of fish stacked up in there. It was NONSTOP line bumps. I managed three steelhead during the night, and three coho's throwing spinners that morning. Unfortunately, I only got to bring home one fish, a 15-ish pound steelhead that was pretty obviously an Idaho-bound "B" run fish. Very long, if it would've had more girth to it, could've been approaching 20lb.

Not a lot of pressure, we spent most of the night there with just one other person. There was still room on Sunday morning for more people to throw spinners also. If you're looking for a bank spot to get in on the overabundance of Columbia fish....get there!!

TR good post and thanks for sharing....
I finally got into some fish Sunday after a
late start. Released a big tule buck, wasn't
pretty to look at but had a lot of spunk. Lots of fish around, how crowded was Drano?

Yes, it was a great night watching everyone else catch fish. Thanks for not telling about me getting all shook up over the chinook, I mean, sturgeon that I hooked. Like Kyle said, it is a great place to spend the evening and lots of feesh.

Hey.... maybe you bank anglers can give me some advice?
I have been bank fishing near Longview... this plunking thing is new to me.... have picked up a couple of steelhead, but not much action and I'd really like to get into some salmon now and/or some b-runs...
.... any advice? My place is on a nice beach, but I can't get too deep... maybe 20 - 30 feet if I get a hell of a cast.... been using spin-n- glows.... shrimp scent, etc... Any help will be appreciated!
Thanks

Neutron, sounds like things were happening for TheRogue. I got a nook from that bench Labor Day Monday a week ago. It's on my things to do list along with, Draino, Deschutes, and maybe some other river.
Interested? Email me.

Lane, Try a new post asking for Longview help. I'm not familiar with your area, but there's lots of fish everywhere. Rain would help the bite.
