Default Father-in-law wants to catch Nehelem fish

My father-in-law had congestive heart failure about three years ago. Although he is stable now and doing much better it is still a day to day thing.

He taught me to catch steelhead and was a very good steelhead fisherman. He would sit on a stump and watch me fish cast after cast, and I could never hook into anything. He would get up and show me what color corkie to put on and were to cast and whamo the fight of my life was on.

I would like to take him to the Nehelem bay this weekend and get him into a fish. He would rather fish the smaller waters like the Nehelem than the big water of the Columbia.

What I need from the Ifish people is technique in the bay. Is the mouth better or the Wheeler area better. what to use on what tide. (outgoing or incomming) Bait or spinner. what size?

Thanks for any info you can provide

If I were you, I'd just hire a guide to show you around. It is the least stressful way to fish. Sounds like your father-in-law needs a nice relaxing day. I'd call Clancy Holt.
