!! IMPORTANT !! Fund rasier for next years ifish golf tourney !!
Hey everyone, There was a great response regarding having a golf tournament next year for members of ifish. Many of the responses supported having the event as a fund raiser for a govt slashed program on some non-profit organization. To have an event such as this requires financial support for the event or the designated organization and to make this a memorable for all that participate.
I have an idea to throw out to the participants of the upcoming floatilla III.
How about everyone that participates in this event pay a $10-20 per person entry fee. This is a private event and is not supported by public interest so I don't think there would be any legal implications of hosting an event with prize money and donations available only to the members of ifish. If I am wrong, please notify me. My thought is we could use half the money as prize money and offer this to the top 3 teams in this event. As an example, let's say 25 folks participate and at $20 each, the event raises $500. Give half of this to the event with say $125 to the winning team, $75 to second place and $50 to third place and the rest into the golf tournament fund. This could be the start of the ifish golf tourney bank account.
I realize this might be late into the event but take into the consideration the golf event and what it means for ifish for next year.
We need to start now to plan this and any financial support we can do now will certainly benfit many later.
Any other ideas or questions, please feel free to contact me.
Thanks, Keith

I think with that kind of money it would be considered a fishing derby and that would involve the WDFW.

I think the golf tourney's a great idea. It
should be a benefit for some worth while charity maybe related to fishing/ifish. If you work with SPONSORS and the Host course,
the participants pay a little extra for green
fees to enjoy the event (revenue to selected charity). Not everyone that goes to the floatilla will have an interest in golf.

Yes, while that's a good idea, it would involve applying for getting permits for a fund raising fishing derby. And Floatilla participants shouldn't be asked to subsidize the golf tourney; even though proceeds will go to a good cause we collectively decide on. Keith, please join our growing golf committee, we can surely use your help. I am going to be looking into group discounts at several area courses, which will help raise the proceeds higher from the entry fees and sponsor contributions. It's a good time to put in your golf course suggestions people. There are some courses on rivers we fish, such as the Lewis River Golf Course near Woodland, WA. And not far from good fishing such as Alderbrook Golf Course just north of Tillamook. There are so many good candidate courses around Portland and Vancouver, we need helpful suggestions. And anybody that has an inside lead on group tourney discounts at any of them let us know. Thanks Keith and guys.

Re: !! IMPORTANT !! Fund rasier for next years ifish golf tourney !!
Thanks for the input.
As I stated if this is considered a "fund raiser" then I would back off on the idea of fishermen chipping in on a "private event" as has been stated in earlier posts on a different thread.
This is not a "fund raising event", but an event that a bunch of guys would chip in to help the "fund raising" event down the road. Private contributions are not the same as public. Isn't there "prizes" already being offered for this event. I'm a little confused on the thinking of some.
My only concern is for the benefit of ifish and the beneficary of potential funds next year. I only brought this up as a potential fund raiser for this future event but if someone wants to pay more down the road, so be it. It's tougher to pay a big chunk of money for a cause than it is to filter it in over a period of time.
Let's keep the focus on what the purpose of this idea is, not personal beliefs on how it should be done. If someone else is interested in taking over the captains chair, let me know and I will gladly pass over the helm.
Keith

I'm pretty new so I havn't heard about this, but I'd sure love to take the tee with some of you folks! Man, talk about good company! Partners that talk golf AND fish?!?! Sounds like a good day indeed.
When and how is this being organized? Sorry for asking for a re-hash, but this really sounds fun.

Re: !! IMPORTANT !! Fund rasier for next years ifish golf tourney !!
Ooops. Please excuse me Keith. I was thinking it was FishinMission that was heading the golf committee, but it's you FishinMishin2 that volunteered to do that. You already are on the informally organized golf committee as chairman. As for the rest of my post, I still feel that way about Floatilla contribtions toward the golf tourney, but maybe other F III guys will feel differently. As for funding a golf tourney, the primary funds come from entry fees and sponsor contribtions. Perhaps non golfing ifishers, in the F III or not, would be glad to contribute to the chosen beneficiary of the tourney proceeds when that's decided. In my opinion that needs to be decided, and then a separate bank account named to make contributions and entry fees out to. What do other ifishers and would-be tourney golfers think? We need beneficiary ideas, and general feedback about all these things. And more tourney organiztion volunteers. Thanks.

Re: !! IMPORTANT !! Fund rasier for next years ifish golf tourney !!
Ya, the name is getting to be a slight problem. I talked with Fishin Mission on Saturday and I do have senority with the name as far as boats are concerned but he has it on this board
When I brought up the idea with the floatilla III I knew it would be late to make something happen. So it will die...
I have an idea to have an auction after the first of the year to raise funds. I'm trying to minimize the cost per person so more people can participate and there will be some awesome prizes. I'll keep eveyone informed
