Upper Clackamas road report
For anyone bow hunting the Upper Clackamas or just wanting to go up and get Christmas trees or whatever.
I took my boys up today to go sledding on the power line cut just past the top of the pass. Coming from Estacada it is clear pavement all the way to Ripplebrook. Past Ripplebrook you start to get snow on the road but where you have tire grooves down to the pavement around the Ollalie lake turn off. Last five miles to the top of the pass I put it in four wheel drive but if I had wanted to take it slower I could have made it in 2 wheel drive. Talked to some guys coming up from Detroit Lake and the road conditions were the same coming up that way as well. So if you have four wheel drive you can do at least 35 to 45 mph from Estacada to Detroit Lake. If you have 2 wheel drive be careful but as long as it doesn't get any more snow and you have decent clearance on your vehicle you should be fine but you drive that pass at your own risk if you have a two wheel drive vehicle. At no point going up or coming back did I feel like it was getting to a point where I might need to chain up. I was driving a 2004 XTerra if it helps you guys any to know the vehicle type. Anyway good luck hunting all it should be a nice day up there tomorrow for you all.
