Window was Open 11/24 Newport
My buddy John came over to dig a few clams and hopefully get out for a few hours today. Clamming was a bust last night but the bar was unrestricted this morning. We left the dock at 8:45, dropped pots and headed West then South. It was pretty calm but there were some big lumps. High tide was 10:45 with the big swing we wanted to be back across the the Bar by 11 or so. We did not stop and fish our way down but headed down to Ona Beach and immediately got into the lingcod. First one was 26" and went into the cooler. Next one was the best of the day and was 13# back at the dock. We reset and got another 8-9# ling. John had a really nice one come off and a short time later got one in the 8-9#. We were done on lings in 1/2 hours and started to look for some rockfish. We made 5-6 stops on small schools on the way back but none were in the mood to bite, one small ling was the only bite we had. We got back in at 11 and picked up the pots(6) 1 female dungeness and a bunch of red rocks, none were kept. The lings were 7-13# according to the checker. The tide was realy beginning to ebb when we crossed the bridge at 12:30.
Not sure if we are going to give the clams a shot this evening or not
