Default Pic's of Africa take 2

This is a pic my wife took just as we left the airport. Kind of a we're not in Kansas anymore kind of a thing.

While I was sighting in my rifle she came across a baboon skull in the dry river bed.

The rest of these are pictures are live ones my wife got pic's of. The first is a gemsbok youngster. I really think these animals are impressive.

While sitting on a watering hole we had a visit from an anteater. It's not very often you get to see these guy's during the day.

Later in the day we came across this jackel. Could have taken him, but I think if I have to debate with myself about it I just don't really want one.

Here is a slightly better pic on the jackel.

Unfortunetly he was just a little ways off to get a good pic.We got a pic of a small group of kudu. I got my bull the first morning after that the problem was all the kudu messing up other stalks. It got to the point that a hated kudu

Well this is starting to get long, so for now I think it will have to do.

Yes, this was an old cattle ranch. In fact a lot of the safari outfits in Namiba used to be cattle ranches, they found they couldn't make a living at it. All the premiter fences have been removed and now there are just a few small fence lines left. They are not capable of preventing anything from going anywhere it wants to. And are slowing being removed. These hunts are definently fair chase.

What is weird to watch is a gemsbok crossing a fence. Belive it or not they can't jump. It's kind of hard to explain, but they raise thier heads so their horns are layed back along their backs and actually go under the fence with out breaking stride. You would not belive it unlessyou saw it.

I definitely figured they were fair chase. I just saw that and wondered what they would have ever been trying to fence in or out. How far out of "town" (village?) are you hunting?
