Any fishing recommendation in/around Stayton?

I'm visiting family for the Thanksgiving weekend in the Stayton/Scio area. I brought my fly rod in case I can get away for a few hours. Any recommendations on a location for a few hours of catch-and-release fishing? Any tips would be appreciated. I'd be wading -- no boat available. Larry

Should be some Sumer run steelhead in the Santiam go for it or take a drive up to the clack in Oregon city area little farther and you have just a good of chance at getting a summer run both places rp

Thanks. I tried, but the water is too high in and around Stayton. I caught one little fingerling on my second cast, nothing for the rest of the afternoon. The water was too high to fish most areas.
