Default Sport jet Fuel pump mod?

Any of you SJ owners do the fuel pump mod that the boat doc talked about? I'm hoping somebody could tell me where they hook the wires in to the fuel pump etc.I have all the stuff needed and can do the job.Just not real confident on where to hook the wires up at.My electrical skills are limited. But my direction following skills are top notch.Could you help me out please?
Thanks,
Rick

I have looked into doing it, but as of yet have not. As far as wiring is concerned, it is pretty straight foward. There are two wires for the fuel pump that easily disconect from the starter solinoid through male/female disconects. I work with electrical for a living, if you have any questions send me an email. Plus I also own a sportjet and am curious how the mod works before I do it to my boat.

It's on my list of "things to do". Just haven't taken the time to round up parts and do it.

I have a Styker with a Intruder dash. The key switch can be wired so when the key is pushed in it becomes a momentary on switch. It does not come factory wired but there are extra wires from the key switch that are not used. Dig around, if your key switch pushes in it should have these wires. Use an ohm meter to locate the pair you need. I don't remember the color of the wires that I used. I just kept trying different combos of the unused wires till I found 2 that when the key switch is pushed these wires become a complete circut. I also found extra wires in the harness that go from the dash to the engine. I used these to complete the circut.
What I have now is key switch when in the on position and pushed in runs my fuel pump as long as the key switch is pushed. I start by turning the key to on (not Start) position then push the key switch in for 5-10 seconds, then let go and start the engine. What this does is to ensure the float bowls on the carbs are full prior to cranking the engine. I have found this helps if the boat has been sitting for some time or I have traveled some rough roads and sloshed fuel from the carbs. Good luck If you have any questions drop me an e-mail.

Now can some tell me where I might find a keeper Gator???

llabwolg, If you own a sport-jet you'll note that it takes some cranking initially to get them to fire up if you have'nt run them in a week or two. As explained by the boat doc, this is because the fuel pump will slowly leak the fuel back to the fuel tank, so it takes some time (cranking time) to re-prime the fuel lines. From the factory the fuel pump only operates when the engine is cranking. By wiring a momentary switch to the fuel pump you can re-prime your lines and carb without the continual engine cranking.
