Default Revoking a poaches hunting license

It seems to me that very often, more like almost always, our legal system will revoke a poachers licence as a form of punishment.

I realy hate this system. I find it very strange that they would think that revoking ones licences is a punishment. The person obviously didnt follow the laws before, so what would make them follow them after. They will still poach regardless.

And exactly how much punishment is the revokation worth? 5 years equals say 1 year in jail, or is it 5 years equals $5000 in fines? I think the license should be revoked, YES, but not as part of the punishment.

Its like when a person has a felony, they cant own a firearm. Thats not considered as part of thier punishment for the felony. You never hear a judge say "for your punishment for this crime we are taking away your ability to own a gun". No they put them in jail for thier crime and the "no guns" thing is just a side effect never figured into the punishment.

4. Auction truck, guns etc and put the money toward enforcement.

Once the word got out there would be less poaching, unless of course someone liked the idea of getting whipped naked.

This post has absolutley nothing to do with what I was talking about!!!!!!!!

I think that pulling the offender's license has a twofold benefit. For one it's a symbolic gesture by the state to acknowledge that they don't condone the offender's actions. Second, it clearly demonstrates that the offender is being punished and it establishes a "paper trail" for further progressive discipline. It's just one of the tools in the DA's arsenal but an inportant first step.
