I have a 1988 140hp Suzuki on my Seaswirl, and also a 6 hp kicker. Both motors have worked well for me. I did have to replace the lower unit when a "pinion?" gear blew, but that was after many years of good use. Besides tune-ups, water pump impellers (regularly changed every two years) and oil changes, that was the only work I have had done to it.

The oil tank for the oil injection system usually will last for about 2 tanks of gas for my boat, 30 gallon tank, but I refill after every use.

The engine will foul plugs if you try to use it for trolling, so get a kicker.

Enjoy your new boat when you get it.

I have a 1998 140 Suzuki outboard and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! The fuel economy is awesome with it. I for one have trolled alot with it and don't have any problems with fouled plugs personally. I would HIGHLY recommend this motor. Mine pushes an 18' Larson with no problems. Fished Buoy 10, the ocean and all over. I love that motor.

had one for 4 years. only problem i had was overheat warning went off and cut my throttle to idle while in fast water. if this happens to you, turn it off and re-start to get full throttle back instead of bouncing off the rocks like we did.. i found mine heavy for the power. also, crank is cast - not forged. you will break it if you use a stainless impeller and pick up a rock.

When they are running right the 140 Suzuki is a good motor. But, that was the reason I sold my Duckworth to get an inboard sled. Every other year I would have to go though the carbs. Did every thing to this motor to stop the problem of the carbs fouling and nothing helped. Different filters and water seperators and still it would get corrsion in the carbs. It was also hard to start on really cold morning to.

on it and has preformed great, the only time it ****** my off was when I flooded it at west port three weeks ago.The 2000 115hp is on my 18.5 campion. Both boats have honda four stroke kickers on them.Good luck,
