The New Willie Boat!
Taking a poll here...
Willie is designing a new boat. He says, "WHEN I GET BACK I AM GOING TO DESIGN A NEW HULL WITH A DEEPER V IN THE BOW FOR BAYS, BUOY 10,ETC. I HAVE A WHOLE BUCKET FULL OF GUIDES WAITING FOR IT. JON WINTERS SAID I SHOULD NAME IT THE VIOLATOR. BUT I AM STUCK ON THE REAPER..
He also likes the RAPTOR.
What do you like? Any new ideas for a Willie boat name?
Come on, let's have fun with this!
I said, the Violater, The Resistor, The Instigator, The Investigator?
Wha?
Lots of good ones!
Help?
Jen

Pursuer, Ambush, Stalker or Vagrant
On a less serious note:
******, Flatlander or ... ah,.. never mind, the other one wont post

Re: The New Willie Boat!
How about.
1. Salt Seeker
2. Big Water Brawler
3. or just Big Water
4. Serpent
5. Assassin
6. Ninja
7. Executioner
8. North River Destroyer
9. Apocolypse
10. Armageddon
OK so I got as little carried away with the dark, death end of the ages thing.
I really do like assassin or Big Water though.

Re: The New Willie Boat!
Name contests are pretty fun. (But Roy, don't ya think one of your name candidates is a little off color? Takes some thought ). Hey Willie, don't call it the REAPER, because competitors and guys might start calling it the Grim Reaper - not good! - Let's see ...
... The Willie:
- PENITRATOR
- DOMINATOR
- The Willie "OR WON'T HE" ...nah
- "SMOOTH" or Smoothinator
- CUTTY'S ARK , (yah, take some Cutty Sark along)
- CUTTER , or PLUGCUTTER
- THE FACTOR
- OLFACTORY DIRECT (salmon smell - but dealers woudn't like this one)
- WAKE UP
- SOUND , it's sound in the Sound?
- CHOPPER, or SLOP CHOPPER, or WAVE CHOPPER
- REDUCER
- PRODUCER
- SLICER, or just SLICE
- WAVERUNNER, or BIG WAVE RUNNER
- "BUOY 10" , that's it!

Re: The New Willie Boat!
I think they should incorporate a local name into the new model. It should be Northwest recognizable and be spot that immediate makes you think FISH! Something like Rogue Reaper or maybe Columbia Cutter. I know I associate the Columbia with big water and lots of fish. I think this is what the new boat will be designed for. I'm tired of the "sports team" names. A Northwest Icon could help it sale.

Just wondering Tanner, is Boater visiting your place?
Willie might get more serious responses if he put a boat up for submitting the best name, what are the chances.

Re: The New Willie Boat!
Finclipped, I agree with your sensable post. That's why his new boat should be:
The Willie "BUOY 10"
So, do I get one of the new boats free? 'NO!' Oh, well how about a new trailer? 'We don't think so.' OK, then how about just a Willie hat?

I think "Mauraudor" would be a perfect fit for the perfect fishing machine. I want a 22 footer in blue to match my 19.5 open Predator.

How about: " Salt" or "Salty Willie"
I hope he dosen't go more than 14 degrees
of deadrise.....I would like 10 degrees if he makes it in 20 feet.....Takes too much hp to get the darn things up and then they are so thirsty. I he wants a bay or b10 hull, how about a bow gas tank to even out the wgt
distrbution?

Re: The New Willie Boat!
Question for those who know about such things: Can you build an aluminum boat with a bow differnt in deadrise ( degree of V angle ) that would have a lesser degree ot the stern.......Hate to sound dumb but I asked about this once when I wanted a boat built and I was told " can't be done". Maybe they kissed me off because I don't look or dress like I could pay for it. Anyway I think I'd like to own a " WILLIE SALT".

Re: The New Willie Boat!
Big Shark,
Willie and others already make boats with 10 to 12 degree V's in front - such as the Predator and Alumiweld Super Vee - in both open and windshield models. As I understand it this new boat will be made for running larger waves and chop, as you would find up the Columbia on windy days and most of the time from the lower Columbia estuary, Buoy 10, and on out over coastal bars to fish outside in the ocean. For that it's best to have the deeper V hulled boats with higher sides - as this one will have. You are right about it taking more power to push a deeper V hull but these will mostly be run with props, maybe some with pumps, so it will be a good setup.
BTW, most of these V sled type boats have less V angle toward the back of their hulls already. I think some of the aforementioned ones go from 10/12 degrees up front to as little as 3 to 5 degress at the transome. Some (like the 2 above) also have a flat section of about 4 ft. long by about 1+ ft. wide at the back of the hull, which makes for a little flater water for the jetpump shoe intake and to run an inch or so shallower.

Re: The New Willie Boat!
Since the Hull is supposed to reduce the effect of waves,
How about the
RECTIFIER?
The semi-vee could be a Half-wave Rectifier, the Deep-Vee would be a Full-Wave Rectifier and the one for me would have an inductive filter to make it smoother yet, and I'll just call it "Henry"

"Salt" already exists with the "Asaltor"
The boat posted is Willie's boat in Alaska and is up for sale. See his website. Any new boat he builds will be awesome, no doubt.
