Default shotgun slug question

I was just wondering if you are using a rifled slug should you use a rifled choke? I would think not but I really don`t know. What is the correct answer?

Default Re: shotgun slug question

No you shouldn't shoot rifled slugs through rifled barrels/tubes,

A rifled slug has its own rifling cast into it on the outer surface of the slug. They are made to shoot through smooth bore barrels.

Rifled tubes and rifled slug barrels are meant to shoot sabot rounds, which are just smooth plastic "wrappers" for the actual slug.

Shooting soft lead rifled slugs through rifling will leave a horrible leading mess in the barrel or tube.

From experience, as I grew up shooting deer w/ them in Minnesota farm country.
