Re: Rogue Report
Wetaline,
I will be making the trip to Agness this weekend. I have talked to a friend who works at the rogue outdoor store in Gold beach and the bite is on. The water should be just fine. Here is the web-site that is updated daily for Oregon river levels. It is currently at 1910 at Agness. Rather low for boating but you should be okay. I will be drifting the Agness to Quasatnie(sp)park. This will be my fourth year in a row and have found the 1/2 lb. fishing to be good at this time(along with the weather). Good luck! http://kayak.physics.orst.edu/~tpw/k...gi/Oregon.html

Re: Rogue Report
Thanks for the spelling (I have never gotten it right). He said that a couple of his friends have been hammering them on flies. I didn't think to ask what type since my son likes to through hardware at them (red mettalic bodied/gold blade panther martins worked great the last couple of years). I know that roe is also hard to beat. We caught alot of fish last year in the
riffle tailouts. I will be looking for your boat. I have a red and tan alumaweld drift boat with a 9.9 merc. In past years the flow has been in the 2600 Ft.per/sec. Most of the water where their is danger from rocks will be marked (the maiboats have marked them).Good Luck!

Re: Rogue Report
I just got back from the upper end of the Rogue this weekend. The water level is up a little and suprisingly colored. Not too long ago it was extremely low and gin clear. No telling what it looks like below Gold Ray dam though. Good luck.

Re: Rogue Report
Just got back from fishing siltcoos lake for trout, went down to my favorite spot, orchard bar and nailed a silver right off, talked with a friend who said you could **** near drop a line with out a hookand get a silver in the bay right now, with all the boats crusing it yesterday and listening on the vhf it sounded like they were doing pretty good there, some off the guides moved up river, but i noticed they were back in the bay yesterday. I have to go to salem this morning and wont be back till thursday, but im going to hit the river as soon as i get back, you might try the hole on the north side of the river across from orchard bar, its not on your map but it just below lobster creek about a half mile..youll see a small rock island , nice hole and always seems to hold fish..

Re: Rogue Report
Any secret insight to what the nookies are hitting? I have my usual arsenal for down there but just curious if there’s anything else that’s effective.

Re: Rogue Report
MB,
It's a good distance but do-able. The first time down there i left my motor home and found out how far 16 mi. can seem like. Alot of the last 1/3 stretch I usually power through. Is there anyone out there who can tell what the next take out is below Quosatana park is? What is the drift like? Any white water that is of concern?

Re: Rogue Report
I beleive the next take out is Lobster creek. There may be a gravel bar you can access the river before then but i dont think so.

Re: Rogue Report
You can take out above Lobster Creek, on the north side of the river, at Dunkleberger Bar...but I wouldn't reccomend it. Unless it's changed, it was a 4x4 show to get a boat out on the road.
There is NO whitewater below Agness on the Rogue, just a few bumps. With the water up, it's much better than it was in July. More of a concern is the long frogwater stretches, where there's no current to riffle up on the shallow water. That can really do you in. It can really be the pits in the afternoon, when the wind is blowing UP through the canyon about 25, and you're coming down in your driftboat with the 8hp motor, with no current to aid.

Re: Rogue Report
Master baiter,
I prefer the drift between Agness and Quosatana. It is about a 16 mile float with a lot of premium fishing water for both Chinook and 1/2 lber's. No white water to speak of. I prefer to row most of the water and power through the unproductive water. I have used Rogue Shuttle for the past 3 years and find them to be dependable (1 800 207-7886) Once you get a couple of miles down from Agness it would be difficult to work your way back to Agness with a prop and drift boat. There are no other boat ramps along this stretch that I am aware of.

Ff-
Wow, 16 miles is a healthy float! This can be done in a day?

Re: Rogue Report
Just got back in off the road, was stuck in that traffic where the three cops got run over, sad sight...got to watch some portland tv and saw that stream where the people were snaggin at...anyways back on the rogue now...TheRogue is right, your best bet is to pull out at lobster creek, you can do it at orchard bar too but there isnt a good boat ramp and even with fwd its easy to get stuck on the bar at orchard...i'll let ya know whats happening when i get back to the river this weekend, unless i can shake these road shakes and get down there tonight...and the spinner I was using was a 6.7 g-spot willow green with a horizontal brass stripe and the bottom chart...
