Question Dusting off the bow....help?

Almost 12 years ago now, I bought a slightly used browning compound bow, got it tuned, shot accurately and consistantly, hunted twice, and put it in the closet for 10 years.
My question is on accesories. I am sure there have been masive advancements in technology in these 10 plus years. Is there anything as far as arrow rests, sights, releases, etc that are a must have for you archery guru's out there?
I would like to stick with my outdated bow for now until I am certain this is a hobby I am willing to pursue on a regular basis. I have read some magazines lately, but I am overwhelmed and lost. Most advice I have read is all about shooting form, and not about equipment. Any publications or web sites you might recomend?
Thanks

My best advice is to stay away from the wisker bisquits. I've heard to many complaints about stray shots!

I don't know that newer is better? If what you have feels good to you and you hit where you aim, you may want to stick with what you have this year. Judging distance is the biggest problem I have, so a range finder may be more important than new gear. If you upgrade after the season is over, it gives you lots of time to fine tune for next year. my .02

Go to your local bow shop and get new strings put on first. Sights, rests, quivers, etc. are a matter of personal choice. If you plan on hunitng next year, I recomend shooting some 3-D courses throughout the year.

Your form is the most important thing that you can perfect. Everything else is just mechanical. However, a release and a forgiving bow definately helps improve anyones accuracy. I recomend a trip down to the Bow Rack in Springfield for some advice on shooting.

The sooner you get some instuction on form, the better off you'll be. The key is using good form in the beginning so that you don't develop bad habits. If you develop bad habits, they are harder to correct.

Good luck!

New string is good advice. I'd also look at getting a fallaway rest. That was the biggest help for me in shooting accurately, especially if you'll be using carbon arrows.

Other than that you should be good to go. I shoot a Matthews MQ1 which I believe came out in 1995. It shoots accurately and quietly and is a very forgiving bow. Until it breaks I'll keep shooting it and not worry about the latest and greatest they come out with each year.
