Wading shoes HELP!------Korkers convertibles?
I think I've just about exhausted the possibilities! Let me start by saying that I use breathable waders with neo booties. Over the years I've used canvas boots with rubber soles(TOO slick-rot quickly). Danner felt soles with cleats(have to soak them when dry too even get them on)(and snow builds up on the felt til I'm a very unstable 6 foot 7), neo float tube booties (OUCH), and now Orvis ultralite boots(comfortable but cold). Considering thhe Korkers convertible sole wading boots----Anybody here use them? Comfort? Durability? Ease in changing soles? Any users or other suggestiond would be greatly appreciated!

I was having boot issues awhile ago. I finally bought some of the Chotas they carry over at River City Flyshop. Man these are nice boots, they have removable cleats and no strings to tie, when you have a big gut like me that helps alot. I highly recommen d them!

I'm interested in what response you get. I have exhausted my non-felt sole boots and they are done. I use breathables too. I Have used Hodgman lug soles and another pair of the same brand felt soles.
I've looked at the Korkers but wonder too...do the lug soles hold up? Do the insertable soles wear out and come un-inserted?

Re: Wading shoes HELP!------Korkers convertibles?
Thanks for the replies. Im still a little unconvinced---even found out that therre are two different models with the convertible soles, the Konvertible and the Wetlands. Afterr the experience with the Expensive danners(Great boots once theyre wet), I dont want to spend the $ unless I know theyll do the job And last.

For what ever it's worth I trying those Dan Baileys with the felt/corks. I've only used them a few times as just got them for Christmas but so far so good.

Re: Wading shoes HELP!------Korkers convertibles?
I got the Wetlands and love them. Planned to get the more expensive ones since they were a gift, but the Wetlands fit my wide feet better. Fit is great... as good as any hiking boot I've owned. Found the felt soles mucked up quick and gave poor traction, but the cleated felts work great. Only used them 10 times so far but they look and feel like they are made to last. lnf
disclaimer: I do NOT own stock in the company; can't speak for Martha though.

Re: Wading shoes HELP!------Korkers convertibles?
Bill and I wear our Korkers nearly every day during steelhead season, and more... for the last two years. They both still look like new, including all of the inserts!
These Korker boots are for sure on my favorite products list!
When I got home from the Sportsman Show, it was the first time I'd seen them dry in ages. They still looked new!
They are wet again. I'm home. Life is good, and I love my Korkers. You just can't go wrong with these, in my opinion!
Bill absolutely adores his, too. I get stopped all the time by people, asking what they are.

Re: Wading shoes HELP!------Korkers convertibles?
Korkers are great wading boots. Get the Konvertibles...they are the strongest ones of the two models.
I go througg a pair of wading shoes per season and so far the Korkers I've got are looking like they will go another year or two for sure!

Re: Wading shoes HELP!------Korkers convertibles?
I own the model with the interchangeable soles and love how durable the boot is and the quality of the newest studded felt soles (old version fell apart). But that's, where the love ends, because otherwise these boots are dangerous! The inserts continually fall out at the worst times (fighting a fish or crossing a river), the shoe laces don’t hold up, and the velcro in the back always fills up with sand and mud. From the pair that I own, I’ve learned that this product needs a few engineering changes. If you are a serious hiker, the boot will break. I thought about gluing the studded felt soles in, but that would ruin the ability to change soles. I’ve considered writing the company, but I doubt it will do any good. It sounds like everyone else is happy with the Korkers product. Is it possible that I came up with the bad pair?

Re: Wading shoes HELP!------Korkers convertibles?
I got a pair of Korkers this last summer and think they are the most comfortable/durable pair of wading boots I've owned. The soles are very durable and very easy to change out.
