newbee next year! Blacktail rut and calling?

I'm really thinking about becoming a bow hunter next year and had some questions.
I live on the west side and have some decent access right off my property.
When is the typical blacktail rut? i'm sure it changes a bit year to year.

Anyone using calls or rattling for them? How do they respond?

Also will be shopping for a bow shortly, so any input is welcome

End of October through November and then again in December is when the rut is on. Banks has some good genetics. As for Bows, it depends on how much you want to spend. Go to a local Bowshop and shoot several bows.

Have you checked to see if there is a late bowhunt on the property????? Might be a good place to start

We are in the Scapoose unit, so i don't think so. Also, haven't even purchased the bow yet. I tend to be on the conservative side, would like to have at least a day or two into learning which end is up before I try to set any records
