Default N Fork Lewis

I was thinking about giving the N Fork a shot either tomorrow or Monday. Seeing as I have never fished it before I was wondering how much bank access is available? And if possible directions to some common bank spots. My Oregon gazetter shows several roads touching the banks on both sides of the river but no street names are listed.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Its a waste of time.We spent 6 hrs up there yesterday (8/31) and never saw a fish caught. There was some caught that evening but I think they were snagged(pretty sure),there was a good bite up there around the first of the week when the fish got there but its dead slow right now.You can see them jumping and once in awhile see some flashes as they swim by.The fish hatchery is a good place to fish if you get there early and get a spot, there is a lot of room there all up the bank from the hatchery.Turn at woodland and just follow the river up on the north side untill you see the hatchery sign turn right drive right thru the hatchery and watch for a road (rough) that goes off to your right, its right past the hatchery,or drive on up another 100 yds and you can fish at the water intake another good spot.Or you can turninto woodland and take an immeniate right and cross the bridge and follow the road up to the boat launch (known as the meathole)it will be on your left just past the boat launch theres a small bridge and another parking lot (small) and a trail leading down mostly snaggers there or you can walk back to the bridge therees a trail that leads down to gravel bar and thats below the snaggers and fairly good fishing early in the morning.I'm going to wait maybe another week or two before I go again. If you want when I hear the fishing is good again.I'll post here for you. Either road you take its about 10 miles to the turnoff after woodland maybe more I'm not sure,I never checked it.

I have been up there since friday and that hole is boiling with fish, and they are taking many.

there is more room on the south side. take woodland exit. take a right at the am pm go over the bridge and go left on the other side.
take that road(Etna) to cedar cr rd go left and follow it to the next Y in the road and follow that to the left until you hit the boat ramp and you are there!!!!

I got a 12 pound silver hen saturday and watched many limit out!

It sucked today. I hit the lower river in the wee hours and the hatchery area (north side) around 8am, both were busts. Very few people at the hatchery caught any fish and those that did (I saw approximately two people with fish), caught one, in the 2 or so hours I was there. Very disappointing after the stories I had heard from earlier in the week but I did learn some things about the Lewis, my first time.

I sure wish they would bite! One kind of nice thing was, I really didn't see any snaggers at the hatchery. I think the cops made arrests a few days ago and that has given the jerks religion, for awhile at least.
